Midi-Pyrenees Holiday in Toulouse
Life in a vibrant French city with a popular university means energy and this Midi-Pyrenees hotel offers that and more. The charming three star Hotel des Beaux Arts offers 19 rooms at reasonable prices in an excellent Toulouse location. The smoke-free hotel includes a popular restaurant and is next to the Garonne River.
River Garonne View
My room, #42, was on the fourth floor and offered a view of the River Garonne via my private terrace. The quaint, air-conditioned room included a separate bathroom and a bath tub, a plus for those who prefer a relaxing soak after a busy day of sightseeing in the historic city center of Toulouse. The room also included satellite TV, safe, minibar and hair dryer.
Like many hotels in Europe, my room was not handicap accessible. There was a narrow flight of stairs to access my room, but the river view was worth the trip.
The room rented for 255 euros in the high season, with an additional charge of 14 euros for breakfast. Free parking is available for cars.
Toulouse Dining
I did not have dinner at La Brasserie des Beaux Arts, although it looked like a popular restaurant within the hotel. Instead, I dined at the nearby Chez Fazoul on rue Tolosane. This was my first night in the Midi-Pyrenees so I ordered the regional specialty; cassoulet. If you like salsa dancing, Chez Fazoul in Toulouse is the place to be late night. While I wasn’t out too late, I did feel comfortable walking around the area by myself at night.
Free Wi-Fi
If you’re someone who can’t travel without a laptop, iPod or smart phone, Hotel des Beaux Arts offers complimentary Wi-Fi in each room.
