Despite having been built decades ago, Quail Lodge and Golf Club in Carmel, California maintains its charm and natural beauty with the recent $28 million restoration of its 850 acres. Surrounded by lush fairways and gardens and home to a championship 18-hole golf course, Quail Lodge and Golf Club offers an array of indoor and outside activities for all ages.
Staying at Quail Lodge
Located on the sunny side of Carmel, Quail Lodge is very much influenced by its Carmel Valley surroundings. Its hotel rooms, public spaces, and outdoor patios feature beautiful stonework and earth tone décor. The lobby looks on to Mallard Lake, situated beyond the outdoor patio area.
Unlike other antiquated hotels and inns, Quail Lodge is entirely ADA-accessible. The guest service desk, bar, and pool are all wheelchair friendly.
With the Quail Lodge and Golf Club’s restaurant still in the making, the lodge serves its guests a complimentary continental breakfast buffet daily in the lobby from 6:30 to 10:00 a.m. Also, breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be found at Edgar’s in the Clubhouse section of the Quail Lodge Golf Club.
Quail Lodge provides its guests with complimentary Wi-Fi and free overnight parking.
Rooms
Quail Lodge offers 91 rooms to its guests, divided into 14 suites and six villas. At approximately $200 per night, I think a room at Quail Lodge is one of the best values on the Monterey Peninsula. Garden suites feature an attached patio, gas fireplace, separate shower and bathtub, and large flat screen television. There is also a sofa that converts into a bed if needed.
Outside and indoor activities
Surrounded by beautiful California scenery, Quail Lodge offers countless hours of outdoor fun. A 2-mile trail connects the lodge to the Rancho Canada Golf Course and several other hiking trails are located nearby. Opened in 1964, Quail Lodge and Golf Club is known for its well-manicured course, plentiful bunkers, and well maintained practice greens. Although the club is semi-private, it is still easy to acquire a manageable start time. The lodge also has tennis and bocce courts.
Land Rover partners with the lodge for a unique driving experience. While I didn’t get a chance to experience Land Rover academy, located by the Quail Lodge Clubhouse, the company offers lessons that allow guests to traverse across challenging terrain in the vehicle of their choice.
After a day outdoors, guests may relax in or by the heated pool. While Quail Lodge doesn’t offer a spa on site, the next best thing is nearby Refuge. Rather than pass along expensive spa costs to hotel guests, Quail Lodge partners with Refuge and offers two passes to Refuge as part of their “Pampered Package.”
Pet Friendly
Quail Lodge and Golf Club is a pet-friendly hotel. For a fee of $35, guests’ dogs may stay with them on property. $15 more allows pets a bed and bowl of food.
