Offering beautiful scenery and hours of outdoor fun, The Saguaro in Palm Springs, California is a welcome oasis amidst the desert landscape. Once home to a Holiday Inn, the 245-room property was transformed by the hotel company Joie de Vivre into a fun and hip property, accessible to people of all different tastes and personalities.
Outdoor activities at Saguaro
Surrounded by 56 different shades of wildflowers that bloom year round and located near the San Jacinto mountain range, the Saguaro Hotel showcases the beauty of the Coachella Valley. Gorgeous views of the desert landscape can be found from the outdoor patio, as well as the Olympic-sized swimming pool and the two outdoor hot tubs on the property. The pool deck is covered by cabanas and includes a fire pit.
Hunger and thirst can be quelled with refreshments from the bar and food service located poolside, open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to sunset.
Other fun includes complimentary croquet near the outdoor patio and Ping-Pong in the hotel lobby.
Indoor fun
The Saguaro offers a fitness center and spa treatments to guests for an additional fee. I didn’t use either, so leave a comment below if you try one during your Palm Springs stay.
Rooms at The Saguaro Hotel
Vibrantly colorful rooms are a unique, retro feature of The Saguaro Palm Springs. All rooms include sittings areas and work stations. Most rooms offer a balcony or patio, and all have a 32-inch television, an in room safe, and an iPod docking station. Toiletries include robes, Lather brand mint thyme shampoo, bamboo lemongrass body wash, lavender lime moisturizer and shower gel.
The heated pool and hot tubs are easily accessible from every room.
One downside to The Saguaro, there is an $18. nightly resort fee. My room rented for $149, plus tax, in addition to the resort fee. Looking for cheap hotel rates? AAA offers discounts to members. June 1st through September is considered the best season for low rates in Palm Springs.
You can make reservations through the hotel website, or check rates at Hotels.com.
Dining at Saguaro Palm Springs
The Saguaro Hotel’s property includes two restaurants, El Jefe offers small plates inspired by Mexico City, while Tinto features Basque regional cuisine. I ate at Tinto and it was awesome! Be sure to order the charcuterie plate and pintxos. Outdoor dining is offered, as well.
