Fun Away From the Parks at the Orlando World Center Marriott

The Orlando area boasts hundreds of hotels – from roadside motels to massive resorts. One of the most massive and impressive of these hotels is the Orlando World Center Marriott – the largest Marriott-branded hotel in the world. The Orlando World Center Marriott offers 2,000 rooms (including 110 suites), 10 on-site restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, 450,000 square feet of event space, a spa, a slide tower, and an outdoor pool complex.

When I pulled in to the porte cochere of the Orlando World Center Marriott, I immediately knew that this was a busy hotel. I was quickly greeted by a valet, but was impressed with how many staff members were bustling around. After leaving my car, I walked into the massive lobby and checked in to my room. Surprisingly, although the hotel is huge, it’s actually quite easy to navigate, and I had no problem finding my room.Marriott World Center Room

The Orlando World Center Marriott has just undergone a huge renovation of some rooms and the pool area, and my suite was one of the upgraded rooms. The room was quiet and relaxing – surprising, as it faced the busy pool area, but I was most impressed with the luxurious linens and towels, and the digital shower which controlled the water temperature and the three shower heads. Rooms at the Orlando World Center Marriott also offer a mini-bar, flat-screen televisions, a large work desk, and in-room coffee maker. Many of the rooms have balconies with great views – my view included part of Downtown Disney, Epcot’s Spaceship Earth, and the Epcot Illuminations fireworks.

This Orlando Marriott is popular with families, and for good reason – there are so many family friendly activities here. The highlight is the Falls Pool Area, which features a kids’ splash area, a kids’ zero-entry pool, a brand-new slide tower with two, 200-foot winding water slides and one, 90-foot speed water slide, the Fall’s pool bar and grill, and a main pool. The Falls Pool Area is lively and fun, but it never felt overly crowded. I enjoyed spending my afternoon reading by the pool.

With 10 restaurants, there are lots of food options for everyone. Spending the day at the pool? The Falls Pool Bar and Grill and the Mangrove Emporium Food Court are your best bets for lunch. The tuna taco appetizer I had at the Pool Bar was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. Poolside service is also available.

For breakfast, I ventured to the impressive buffet at Solaris, but those with less of an appetite will appreciate the lobby Starbucks. There are loads of dinner options, including the new Siro Urban Italian Kitchen, which offers house-made pasta and other Italian specialties.

The Orlando World Center Marriott is a great spot for families visiting the theme parks of Central Florida. Just make sure that you plan to spend at least one full day at the resort.
