Luxury and paradise converge at the beachfront Fairmont Kea Lani. Located in Maui’s high end Wailea, it is the only suite and villa oceanfront resort in Hawaii spanning a 22-acre tropical landscape. Fairmont hotels are some of my favorite in the world, and the 450-room Fairmont Kea Lani only cements my love for this brand.
Arrival
Apparently the developer asked the architect to create a blending of land and hotel, and the result is a mix of Hawaiian and Moorish design – and a very lavish one at that. The name Kea Lani means White Heaven and you will certainly see that from the moment you enter, from the bright white building to the marble softened somewhat by the earth tones on interior places. The U-Shaped building is spread out across the 22 acres, and somewhat of a maze until you get your bearings. Check-in is as smooth as Japanese silk – even more so for us when we learned we were upgraded to a 2-bedroom Villa.
Accommodations
All rooms are either suites or villas, with $20M renovation poured into rooms and public areas in 2012. The suites are spacious 860 square feet with large bathrooms, but the villas are a step above, like stepping into an episode of the Rich and Famous.
Steps from the ocean, we were transported via golf cart past the 3 pools and restaurants to our 2-bedroom, 2-story villa with 3/12 footo plunging pool, BBQ, washer/dryer, full kitchen, valet parking and buffet breakfast included. Starting at $1,850, these villas are worthy of a king, but so luxurious that we rarely left the villa.
Amenities
The Fairmont Kea Lani is overflowing with amenities: 3 pools (including an adult and a keiki pool), 2 spas, day spa, children’s program, valet parking, iPod docking stations and DVD players in each room, free room safe, coffee makers with free coffee daily, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi in rooms, and resort-wide, 24-hour business center, 8 conference rooms, shops, 5 restaurants, 4 lounges, wedding coordinator, laundry facilities.
I’m already a fan of Fairmont, and the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui is another hotel I will dream about.
