As my kids have gotten older, we are always searching for vacation destinations and resorts where the kids will enjoy activities targeted to them, and my husband and I will have things to do as well. Smugglers’ Notch Resort, located in Vermont, is one of those rare locations where families can have fun individually, then come together in the evenings to enjoy family time. Named number one by the Ski Magazine Annual Reader’s Survey, Smugglers’ Notch is also a fabulous summer family vacation destination.
Lodging at Smugglers’ Notch
One of the best things about Smugglers’ Notch is the accommodations. When we travel there, we usually stay in a two-bedroom premium condo, which is perfect for the four of us. These rooms typically include a master bedroom with master bath, a second bedroom with three beds, a second bathroom, a full kitchen, a dining area, and a living room. If you want maid service during your stay, it’s available for an additional fee. The resort is large, and since it’s on a mountain, it can be difficult to walk throughout the whole resort. It’s best to look at a map before you book and know where you want to stay.
Activities at Smugglers’ Notch
Smugglers’ Notch offers more amenities and activities than your typical family resort. There’s an on-site daycare center, eight pools, four water slides, an indoor fun center with inflatables, several playgrounds, kids’ camps, hiking trails, art classes, a fitness center, fitness classes, and more. In the winter, there are ski and snowboarding classes available, while summer day camps are available in July and August. It’s not unusual to see teenagers in the camps – they are incredibly popular and the kids love them. Smugglers’ Notch resort also offers programming for adults including workshops and outdoor activities like kayaking.
Dining at Smugglers’ Notch
Families can easily cook their own meals at Smugglers’ Notch, as all condos offer full kitchens. If you are planning on cooking most of your meals, it’s best to bring your own groceries. The selection of groceries on property is fairly limited, and there aren’t many stores nearby. If you’d rather eat out, the resort also offers several on-site restaurants, and there are some great food options offsite.
Regardless of which activities you choose to do while at Smugglers’ Notch, there are several package types that will suit your needs. Many of the activities are offered at an additional fee, but some packages include them, so definitely analyze your options carefully. Package prices range from approximately $125 to $245 per adult per night (kids are extra), depending on the time of year and activities chosen. To learn more, visit the Smugglers’ Notch website.
