Sea Air & Blue Sky at Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

There are a number of landmarks along San Diego’s waterfront skyline. Among the ranks, the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier, the Coronado Bridge and the Manchester Grand Hyatt. While it might seem odd to include a hotel in the mix, after that first view of its two towers it all makes sense.

The West Coast’s tallest waterfront hotel, it towers over the San Diego Bay. And all that height gets put to good use. With 1,628 guestrooms, a spa, two pools, numerous restaurants and a rooftop sports area, being bored during your stay isn’t an option at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

Fresh off a multi-million dollar renovation, all rooms feature floor to ceiling windows that take full advantage of downtown and bay views. But the real perk, the windows actually open, letting all that fresh seaside air breeze in. Room décor is fresh and contemporary with a nod to its nautical neighbors.

Dogs 50 pounds and under are welcome. The hotel has a pet-friendly floor especially for its four-legged guests.

There’s no denying it’s a big hotel. Touch screens in the lobby help direct you to the loads of amenities that make it hard to actually leave the hotel. The main pool is the center of the action (especially in the summertime) with cabanas, lounge chairs and fire pits to keep you cozy long after the sun sets. S’mores are encouraged. Splashing not your style? Head to the adults only pool at Kin Spa. Soak up some sun, read a book or take a nap. If budget allows, the spa makes it easy to indulge and relax.

Breaking a sweat is more fun when it comes with a view. The Manchester Grand Hyatt’s rooftop works overtime with space for tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball and horse shoes. The inside Hyatt StayFit gym is open 24 hours a day. A large selection of exercise bikes, stair climbers, treadmills, and ellipticals also come with a view.

Breakfast at the Manchester Grand Hyatt

Breakfast for a Sweet Tooth

Whether it’s tennis or treadmill time, calories burned equal vacation calories to enjoy. From fine dining at Sally’s Seafood on the Water, to a cocktail on Top of the Hyatt or the Lael’s waffle bar that delivers a sugar rush just looking at it.

Amenity rich, the hotel makes it easily convincing to simply stay put. But so much of San Diego is sitting just steps away. Walk along the waterfront through Seaport Village to the USS Midway. Taste your way through Little Italy, head to the Gaslamp Quarter or maybe even take in a game at Petco Park.

Guest room rates range from $209 to $259 depending on the season.  Book direct or go through Booking.com or Hotels.com.
