Silicon Valley Luxury at Rosewood Sand Hill

For many visitors, a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area equates to a trip to San Francisco. There’s no arguing San Francisco is visit worthy, but the Bay Area has plenty to offer outside city limits. Home to recognized names like Stanford, Apple and Google, the Silicon Valley has its own must-sees and the Rosewood Sand Hill gives you a nice spot to call home while you check them off your vacation list.

Located 35 minutes south of San Francisco and a little more than a dozen miles north of San Jose, when you arrive at the Rosewood Sand Hill, the entrance might remind you of other hotels. But after checking in, it’s when you actually start making your way to your room, that the difference becomes clear.

The property has 80 rooms and 31 suites, but doesn’t feel anything like a hotel. Guests don’t hop on an elevator located somewhere off the lobby and then walk down a dark hallway to make their way to their room. They get transported via golf cart, or simply enjoy the walk through landscaped outdoor areas. Even in the middle of winter, gardens are green and plants are blooming.

Premier Rooms are spacious and offer room to spread out. Ranging from 527 to 553 square feet, families especially will appreciate the extra space. Located on the second floor, even with two chairs and a table, there’s still plenty of room to move around on the balcony and enjoy garden, pool or mountain views.

All rooms feature bathrooms with a rain shower, separate oversize soaking bathtub and a private toilet area. The walk-in closet keeps the clutter that can come with living out of a suitcase to a minimum.

The heated outdoor pool and hot tub are an expected hit with families, but it’s not uncommon to see guests of all ages taking advantage and swimming laps, especially in the morning. The Pool Bar and Grill serves quicker bites like sandwiches and salads and offers a children’s menu.

The on-site Michelin-starred restaurant Madera serves breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared in an open kitchen. Floor to ceiling windows take advantage of the hotel’s setting. Try to eat one less piece of bread and save room for one of their delicious and beautiful desserts.

Sense® spa has 13 treatment rooms and offers a range of services including a hair and nail salon to more indulgent treatments like the Gold Rush Renewal which includes a body scrub infused with 24 karat gold followed by a full-body massage.

The spa is also home to a movement studio. Group fitness classes ranging from Pilates and yoga to circuit training are offered throughout the week. Hotel guests can join in for $20 per class. The well-stocked fitness center is complimentary for hotel guests and is open 24 hours a day.

The hotel is less than a 10 minute drive to the Stanford University, so around graduation expect rooms to be scare.

Premier Rooms range from $625 per night in low season to $845 per night in high season. Check the hotel website for more details and to make your reservation. You can also compare rates with Hotels.com, Expedia or Hotels.com.
