Deluxe Resort in the Heart of Cape Cod

The Beach at Ocean Edge Resort

Living in the Boston suburbs, we are so lucky that Cape Cod, one of my favorite vacation destinations, is just a few hours away. Each spring, summer, and fall, families from across the nation flock to Cape Cod for the delicious food, gorgeous beaches, and fun activities. One of the top family resorts on the Cape is Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club. Ocean Edge Resort is located in Brewster, which is the considered “mid-Cape”. We had the opportunity to visit right at the end of September, when it was unseasonably warm. In general, the fall is a great time to visit Cape Cod, because you can often get some warm days, but the crowds have all left for the summer.

Ocean Edge Resort is popular among the resorts on the Cape, and tends to book up quickly during the peak season. There are several different accommodation types available, and the resort is actually separated in two sections, spanning nearly 430 acres.

Golfers will love the Villages section, which surround the only 18-hole Nicklaus Design championship golf course on Cape Cod. The other section of the resorts is the Mansion section, where the highlight is the historic Nickerson Family Mansion and Carriage House. Past the mansion is the Presidential Bay Collection Villas, a group of building that house two and three bedroom villas. For our stay, we had a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite within the Presidential Bay Collection.

Suites include a kitchenette, a nice benefit if you want to prepare some meals while on vacation. While there is no oven, the kitchenettes do offer a stove top, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, wine cooler, and coffee maker. The villas also include at least one porch, a washer/dryer, and complimentary WiFi. We loved the open, coastal decor of the villa, as well as the comfortable bedding and luxurious bedding.

Beyond the rooms, Ocean Edge Resort offers many amenities and activities for families. Mansion guests can enjoy the private beach while guests of the Villages are able to get a Brewster Beach Pass and ride a complimentary shuttle (in season). There are also three outdoor pools and two indoor pools for those who prefer pools.

Active guests will appreciate the nine tennis courts (court fees apply), tennis pro shop, and fitness center. In addition, bike rentals are offered on property. The resort is located right on the popular Cape Cod Bike Trail, and printed bike itineraries are available with beginner and intermediate routes. During some school vacation weeks and the summer months, Ocean Edge Resort offers children’s activities and programs.

Brewster and the surrounding towns offer many restaurants, ice cream stands, bars, and shops, and there are several restaurants at Ocean Edge Resort as well. Three full-service restaurants as well as several snack locations are located on property. We had a few meals at the resort and really enjoyed them.

Rates vary greatly, depending on season. They around $100 (for the Villages) in the off-season, and $300+ in the summer. A minimum night stay may be required.
