While most of the luxury hotels built in recent years in Peru have centered around Cuzco and Machu Picchu (the Sacred Valley), the capital city of Lima, the gateway for all international flights, is also attracting its share of five-star properties. One of the most recent entries is the venerable Hilton chain, which had heretofore been represented in the Peruvian capital only by its Doubletree brand.
The Hilton’s Miraflores Hotel has certainly found the ideal location: on a block of Avenida La Paz that is home to no fewer than three of Lima’s best restaurants — and that is saying something, in a city that is gaining a reputation as one of the gastronomic capitals of South America. In fact, the hotel itself is proud to be the location of one of those top-rated restaurants: Social, a trend-setting leader in contemporary Peruvian–American fusion cuisine.
One thing the restaurant and hotel have in common is excellent service, provided by attentive and friendly bi-lingual staff. This extends to the business center, which is open 24 hours; the valet parking, which is complimentary (although the parking itself is not); and the Executive Lounge, where, similarly, the Wi-Fi access is complimentary — which unfortunately is not the case in the rest of the hotel.
In all other respects, however, the guest rooms are far from lacking, especially when it comes to comfort. The hotel’s sleep system features Hilton Serenity beds, their Super Topper mattress pads, Touch of Down pillows, 250 thread-count triple sheets and duvet cover. The ergonomic chair at the desk, in addition to the virtue of being made from recycled material, is actually incredibly comfortable. Although for those who prefer to work in bed, the Lima Hilton’s got you covered as well, with cushioned lap desks.
Naturally, all rooms and suites at the Lima Hilton Miraflores are equipped with the latest conveniences, including docking stations and 37-inch HDTVs. A nice touch is the coffee-making bar, with a choice of china and/or take-away cups. The marble bathrooms have separate tubs and roomy shower stalls with rain-drop shower heads. The luxury toiletry amenities come complete with massaging soap bar and mouthwash.
Most rooms have expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, while some suites feature balconies and/or whirlpool tubs. The hotel has a fitness center with a range of cardio equipment and weights, plus a rooftop outdoor heated pool and whirlpool, with views of the city skyline and Pacific Ocean.
The property — which is 100% smoke-free — also has a number of ADA-compliant accessible rooms. Service animals and small pets are also allowed (a deposit is required).
Rates when booking online at the Lima Hilton Miraflores website start at $159, with a lowest price guarantee. The hotel also offers a variety of money-saving packages, as well as occasional 48-hour flash sales.
