Location, location, location. It makes all the difference when it comes to hotels and if your travels take you to Seattle, the stretch of downtown real estate The Westin Seattle calls home can’t be beat. Located in the bustling financial and shopping district of the city, there’s no need to rent a car. It’ll just slow you down. Just be sure to pack comfy shoes, because everything you’ll want to do is a scenic walk away.
The Westin Seattle’s twin cylindrical towers make it easy to pick out of the city skyline. With 891 smoke-free guest rooms, the layout also gives the hotel a nice smaller-then-it-is feel. Once you know what tower you are staying in, navigating your way around the hotel is easy.

I stayed in a Grand View double guest room with my family of four. Coming off a weeklong cruise to Alaska, it was just after 10am when we walked into the lobby simply hoping to store our luggage. When I was told the room was ready, it was like hitting the vacation lottery.

Our room was perched on the 40th floor. A wall of windows let in natural light and came with an added view of the water and Pike Place Market. In addition to two double beds, the room had a spacious sitting area and a large work desk with an ergonomic chair. The bathroom was large enough for all the toiletries that come with four travelers and the extra shower room from the curved shower rod was a nice bonus. All of the property’s guest rooms were renovated in 2012.

The Westin Seattle offers amenities you’d expect like an on-site restaurant and bar, but the large indoor pool is an unexpected city treat. Even better, and often missed is the outdoor sun deck lined with lounge chairs. Twice, I had the area all to myself.
The WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio is open 24/7 and has just about anything you could need for a good workout. You can pack light and have less laundry to do when you get home if you take advantage of the New Balance Gear Lending Program. For just $5 you get workout clothes and shoes delivered to your room for you to use during your stay. The shoes come with new socks that are yours to keep. The hotel also has a running concierge that leads guided runs every Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30am. If you’d rather go on your own, detailed running maps are provided.

Run or walk, there’s plenty close-by to see. Head west and you’ll run into the Space Needle. Aim for the water and Pike Place Market is waiting just five blocks away. If you want to rest your feet, you can hop on the neighboring Monorail and reach Seattle Center in just two minutes. With only one stop, you have to work to get lost.

The Westin Seattle is also a pet-friendly hotel. Unlike most other properties, there’s no added fee. Pets 80 pounds and under are allowed at no charge. Dog beds and assorted goodies are available.
