Wine Country Getaway at Geyserville Inn

Geyserville Inn Entrance

The cost of a quick getaway to Northern California wine country can add up fast. If your plans include wine tasting in Sonoma County, the Geyserville Inn might be for you. More of a charming roadside hotel than typical wine country resort, you can relax without busting your budget.

The Geyserville Inn has 38 guestrooms and three king suites with views of the pool or surrounding vineyards and mountains. It’s located just off Highway 101 on a country-esque road that leads into the tiny town of Geyserville. The Inn’s backyard spills out to grapevines as far as the eye can see. You can practically walk into the vineyards from the small, family run property.

Deluxe Fireplace King room at Geyserville Inn

The furnishings in my Deluxe King guestroom weren’t anything fancy, but the room was larger than expected and had a gas fireplace and a balcony. All of the windows actually opened, a hotel rarity. Having fresh air, instead of relying on a noisy air conditioning system, is a nice perk.

My room was on the second floor, on the back corner of the property, so day or night, it was very quiet. However, there is no elevator, so if you will be traveling with heavy luggage or anyone who doesn’t do well with stairs, request a room on the first floor.

Vineyard views from Geyserville Inn

The Inn’s neighbors are for the most part, just grapevines. The closest thing to any action can be found about a mile down the road in downtown Geyserville. Along with a handful of tasting rooms, you’ll find a couple restaurants, coffee house, general store and a shop that sells a fun cross between antiques and much-loved junk. Most people who visit come to taste at nearby wineries like Pech Merle, Trione and Francis Ford Coppola.

If you want to mix a little more hustle and bustle into your stay, Healdsburg, one of Sonoma County wine country’s better known and more booming destinations, is about a 10 minute drive south on Highway 101.

Geyserville Inn Pool

A small solar-heated outdoor pool offers a comfy spot to cool off on warm days. After sunset, be sure to head outside to the grassy area behind the Inn. On a clear night, it’s a perfect spot to stargaze.

The Geyserville Grille, located next door to the Inn, serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, brunch on weekends and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available in the lobby. Since the Geyserville Inn is small, it doesn’t take long for the front desk to get to know guests. Feel free to ask questions, the staff is happy to provide suggestions and tips on everything from local restaurants to morning running routes.
