Set on a quiet, leafy street in the trendy Palermo Hollywood neighborhood of Buenos Aires, the Fierro Hotel is big on style, without sacrificing substance. The hotel’s location makes it easy to wander the local streets or hop on public transportation to explore nearby neighborhoods and all the big attractions of Buenos Aires, and the hotel staff go out of their way to ensure guests have a great trip.
Upon arrival, guests are emailed an interactive map of the neighborhood, which outlines top places to see, eat, and drink, as well as necessities like ATMs and grocery stores. While the interactive functions require WiFi, it was easy enough to take a screenshot of the map for use when I wasn’t connected. Another check-in perk: a complimentary glass of wine. After dumping our bags in the room, my husband and I made a beeline for the restaurant, where we claimed our glasses and shared a juicy burger and crispy polenta fries–and salivated over the dinner menu.
Our room was a 441-square-foot superior room with a soft King bed, and a spacious sitting area with table, two chairs, and a sleek settee. Decked out in muted black, greys, and a bright pop of red, it was sultry and sophisticated.
There was a desk with Ipod/Iphone dock, a 32″ LCD TV, Nespresso machine, and minibar stocked with quality Argentine wines, and a small balcony off the sitting area overlooking a lush garden below.
Our marble bathroom was austere but functional, with a hair dryer, ample light, and organic toiletries.
Terrace suites, up on the hotel’s top floor, have the added bonus of a large terrace with private acuzzi.
We opted to check out the 7th floor pool, where there’s a sauna, lounge, and plunge pool with a view of the nearby rooftops. In-room massages are available, and guests have access to an off-site gym.
The onsite restaurant serves complimentary breakfast including homemade yogurt, scones, pastries, coffee and juice, and lunch and dinner are served daily. When booking, guests can add on extras like in-room flowers or chocolate, in-room massages, airport transfers, dinner at the restaurant, or a tango show. We opted to ask the staff’s advice and weren’t disappointed with their recommendations. A short stroll through the residential neighborhood, brought us to a lovely little wine bar where we had a wine flight paired with cheese, a bustling pizzeria serving delicious Neapolitan-style pizza, and Pani bakery, where we snagged a decadent oreo-and-dulce-de-leche cake to eat back in the room. While the hotel itself is lovely and offers just about everything you need, the surrounding area is just as much of a draw.
