Want a no-frills place to sleep at Jasper National Park in the spectacular Canadian Rockies? That’s what I needed when I spent several days in Jasper last summer as part of a five-week Canadian Rockies road trip. Jasper’s friendly Mount Robson Inn fills the bill.
Here’s the scoop (and scroll down for a slide show of some of Jasper’s scenic attractions):
A two-story 80-room motel located a few blocks from the center of town, Mount Robson Inn has standard guest rooms that include the Rocky Mountain road trip essentials: comfortable beds topped with white duvets, updated bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, microwaves, and mini-fridges for storing your road trip snacks and on-the-trail lunches.
Rooms come in various bed configurations, from one queen, one king, or two queens, to larger family-friendly suites.

If you’ve gotten wet and muddy out on the trail, you can wash your clothes in the guest laundry onsite. To soothe those weary hiker’s muscles, you can take a quick soak in the hot tub (it faces the parking lot, but you might not care about the lack of views when you sink into the warm water). Parking at the hotel is free.
Rates include a simple Continental breakfast in the dining room that’s always busy with adventurers getting ready for their day out.
Hotel staff can give you lots of tips about things to do nearby. Wi-fi is complimentary, although at times, I found it so slow as to be unusable, so I appreciated having helpful humans to ask. And with so many spectacular sights in Jasper National Park, you shouldn’t be spending your time online in your room anyway.
