Whether sunny mountain summers or snowy ski season lures you, one of the best places to stay while in Aspen is the Limelight Hotel. Centrally located in downtown Aspen, it’s not only a launching pad for a wealth of activities, but also a relaxing and stylish spot to return at the end of the day.
Perched beside Wagner Park, the hotel proudly touts its environmental efforts to reduce its impact on the local environment—from timer-controlled room lights to a restaurant composting system. The hotel’s contemporary, yet comfortable, design makes it easy for guests to relax in the lobby, pool deck, or roof deck, aside from the assigned guest room.
The Limelight Hotel’s 126 guest rooms range from atrium rooms to a two-bedroom penthouse suite. All rooms feature 32-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, Wi-Fi, Keurig coffeemaker, and comfy robes.
In winter, the hotel’s ski shuttle takes skiers to Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass ski and snowboard mountains. Aspen Mountain is a short walk away. There’s also a ski concierge, to help with rentals and lift tickets.
In summer, go hiking, rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, or golfing. The hotel is a “bike-in, bike-out” hotel in the summer, offering guests free use of a fleet of cruiser bicycles that they can use on their own, or on scheduled outings.
When you’re hungry, stop in the Limelight Lounge, which offers tasty après (also known as happy hour) treats. Dinner and drink options go into the night, and you just may forget that there are also a handful of hotspots outside the hotel.
A resort fee of 6 percent is added to your bill, so make use of the extras that really are extras like airport transfers, in-town transportation, and the, daily expanded continental breakfast. (It also includes things most hotels have in their rates already, like the fitness center and Wi-Fi). Rates at the Limelight start from $125 during spring and fall, $275 in summer, and $305 in winter.
