If you’re looking to stay in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the location of Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa is hard to beat. Located on the marina, there’s no need to have a car here. Whether you want to head to the beach, go shopping, eat or drink, it’s all within walking distance.
All of the resort’s 150 suites have balconies or patios, and 80 percent of the guestrooms have a marina view. Suites are bigger than average hotel rooms and come with either a well-stocked full kitchen or kitchenette.
I stayed in a Junior Grand Luxe suite on the third floor. Located in a corner area, my room had the bonus of two balconies, which made it nice and bright. But it was the balcony facing the marina that monopolized my time in the room. Overlooking the pool and marina, the view was enjoyable no matter the time of day. The pool closes nightly at 8pm, so noise was never an issue.
Along with two queen beds, the suite had a nice sitting area with a table, chair and sleeper sofa. The kitchen included a full-size refrigerator, electric stove top, microwave, coffee maker and blender. Though there was no dining room table, the kitchen counter offered seating for three. The bathroom had only one sink, but a door separated it from shower and toilet, allowing multiple users some privacy. Although Cabo San Lucas is not considered by most to be a popular family destination, the room’s size and amenities make it a good choice if you happen to be traveling with kids.
The main pool is located between the resort and the marina. Umbrellas are plentiful, but the swim-up bar is also a popular spot to seek shade. If you’re more interested in napping by the pool than socializing, there is a second, smaller pool, just off the lobby, in a quiet corner of the resort. The Solarium, located on the 5th floor, has two hot tubs and great neighborhood views.
Along with a room-only option, Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa offers what it calls a Dine Out All-Inclusive Plan. The plan covers unlimited food and alcohol at the poolside La Palapa Restaurant and a number of restaurants in the marina area that are owned by the resort. Guests can also take a complimentary shuttle to the resort’s sister hotel, Hacienda Encantada Resort and Spa (a 10-15 minute drive), for dinner at one of its specialty restaurants. (If you don’t purchase the all-inclusive plan, the shuttle cost $10 roundtrip.)

Swimmable, Medano Beach is a five minute walk away if you use city streets, 10 minutes if you take the scenic route along the marina. The bars and night clubs Cabo San Lucas is famous for are either on the marina or just a block or two off of it, in the downtown area.
The resort is located about 40 minutes south of Los Cabos International Airport. Shuttles and taxis are available, but if you drive, gated parking at Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa is complimentary.
Wi-Fi is free only in the lobby. If you want service in your suite, there is a fee.
Rates for a Junior Grand Luxe suite range from $361 to $551 (double occupancy), with the Dine Out All-Inclusive Plan.
