While snow may be falling in other parts of the country, Napa Valley enjoys a moderate Mediterranean climate. The winter is one of the best times to visit Northern California wine country; the crowds have dissipated and a more relaxed vibe takes over the restaurants and shops in historic downtown Napa. This is the time of year when I like to escape to Napa for a bed and breakfast romantic getaway. Fires blaze brightly in the fireplace and a hot tub calls my name with a glass of bubbly to end the day. This is also a great time to chat with winemakers and the local people behind the counter or kitchen door.
If you’re looking to sip and dine your way through downtown Napa during the December holidays, I have just the tour for you. Better yet, book a stay at one of these historic inns of Napa for the first Saturday in December and you’ll wake up to a feeling of Christmas cheer. That’s because eight Napa Inns will deck their halls – and banisters and windows – you get the picture – with ribbons and bows. The stockings will be hung from the chimney with care in hopes that a Napa Valley winemaker soon will be there.

You won’t have to worry about drinking and driving, or rely on St. Nick and his eight tiny reindeer to get you from one inn to the other because a complimentary shuttle service is included with the price of your ticket. The cost of the 2016 ticket is $75 and includes food and wine pairings from local Napa chefs and innkeepers, as well as Napa Valley winemakers. The event takes place from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. with live entertainment included at most bed and breakfasts. This is a charity event, with funds going to local and deserving Napa charities.
This will be my first time attending the 2016 Napa B&B Holiday Tour, but I have had the pleasure of staying at several bed and breakfasts, quite a few are members of Historic Inns of Napa.
