Family Fun at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in the White Mountains of New Hampshire

the Red Jacket ResortThe White Mountains of New Hampshire is a great family vacation destination, especially in the summer.  While there have been many family hotels sprouting up all around the North Conway area, one of the original hotels is the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort – located right in the center of the North Conway.  The Red Jacket Mountain View Resort is also home to Kahuna Laguna, the largest indoor water park in New Hampshire, which is only open to resort guests.  For families visiting the area, it’s a great place to stay.

Alcove Room Red Jacket ResortOn a family vacation to Story Land, we stayed at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort for the first time.  We had one of the few alcove rooms, which is a standard two-double bed room with a secret little alcove.  The alcove included a double bed and a sliding door for privacy – perfect for when the kids went to bed earlier than we did.  The room decor and style is pretty standard, and the walls between the rooms are a bit thin.  We were at the end of the building but did hear some noise coming from the room next to ours.

However, the resort amenities make the whole stay worthwhile.  The resort offers some wonderful kids’ activities, including the water park, outdoor pool, arcade, story time and s’more making.  We really enjoyed visiting Kahuna Laguna also.  Because the park is only accessible to resort guests, it isn’t crowded at all and it’s well staffed.  My son is a bit more timid in the water, so he stayed by the water tower, while my daughter went right for the water slides.  There’s also a wave pool, a shallow pool, and an activity pool. We only spent one half-day at Kahuna Laguna, but we easily could have spent more time there.

Disclosure: We received a complimentary stay as well as water park tickets for purposes of review.  All opinions are my own.
