Pet-friendly Wine Country Inn in Napa Valley

Napa Valley has as many hotel and bed & breakfast choices, as it does wineries. There’s lodging for every price point. One of my old favorites is Wine Country Inn. This unique boutique hotel has been in up valley wine country since 1975. We reviewed this St. Helena bed & breakfast in 2013, but a lot has changed since then. With new ownership comes a complete remodel of the lobby reception building, guest rooms in the Winery House, as well as the luxury cottages and suites.

If you travel with your four-legged friends, you’ll be happy to know that Wine Country Inn is pet-friendly. They have a “Pet Agree” program that includes a dog bed, dog bowls, treats and a listing of all the dog-friendly tasting rooms in the area. Concierge will be able to help you out with suggestions on where to run your dog if the paths along the rambling property are not enough of a workout.

Speaking of working out, Wine Country Inn has an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, both heated year round. Our visit took place during Napa Valley’s “Cabernet Season” which means winter months, no crowds and you’ll benefit from off season pricing. While the vines are sleeping, there is still plenty to see and do in the town of Calistoga and St. Helena.

After a day of wine tasting, bike riding or gourmet eating and drinking, you’ll want to return to your hotel room and take in the views. Most rooms, cottages and suites offer vineyard views. We stayed in a deluxe vineyard view room that was pet-friendly. Previously, I stayed in a private cottage. The cottages offer garden or vineyard views, jetted tubs with beautiful stained glass windows above the tub, as well as a separate walk-in shower. The cottages would be my personal pick for a romantic wine country escape. They also feature patios with retractable awnings and patio furniture – this is where you’ll want to enjoy that complimentary bottle of wine that you’ll find in your mini fridge.

If you are a bed & breakfast devotee, you’ll not be disappointed with the breakfast buffet. Kokua Hospitality Group and its hotel general manager make sure to utilize local businesses when it comes to breakfast products. The pastry basket from nearby Model Bakery and the local coffee company are heavenly.

Rates range from $239-$311 for petite king and deluxe vineyard view rooms in low season in the Winery House to $329-$849 for vineyard view cottages. As always, check the Wine Country Inn website for current pricing and specials, as hotel rates vary. You can also compare rates at Booking.com.
