Family Run Retreat in Limosin, France

Exterior of the family run property in Limosin

Pleasant rooms in beautiful surroundings, fresh, home cooked food and a warm welcome as you arrive; it doesn’t take much to make a great B&B and in France there are plenty of great places to choose from.

La Chapelle, in the Limousin area of central France is a family run B&B which is committed to the welfare of the land, a low carbon footprint and its impact on the local environment. The family run, rustic farmhouse property offers four simple rooms; furnished with farmhouse pieces and wooden cladding, which are available from just €45for a double room.

The property is located in the quiet town of Chateau Chervix; just a short drive from Limoges, which is renowned for its fine porcelain (and bargains can be found if you’re buying direct from the manufacturer). The ancient volcanic area of the Auvergne, with its dramatic landscapes and numerous attractions for geologist and outdoor enthusiasts alike, is also less than an hour’s drive from the property.

It is the food however for which this B&B has made its name. With the vast majority of products grown on the property, organically and with milk coming from the family goats (which is used to produce some fabulous cheese) and eggs from the Limousin hens wondering around the back garden meals do not come much fresher.

Meals are served family style and while this is not haute cuisine or luxury dining you are likely to enjoy some of the best and freshest home cooked, traditional cuisine available, for a price under €20 a head- wine included.

If you want to eat out, while there are few dining options in the town itself, a short drive offers several traditional restaurants offering a range of options, including numerous specialties featuring the regions famous Limosin cattle. Less than an hour’s drive will also take you to some of the regions most renowned restaurants, including Castel  Novel  in Corerreze;  famous for its fine desserts.
