Located next door to the famed Monterey Bay Aquarium, in the thick of Cannery Row, the InterContinental The Clement Monterey boasts a primo location, mere steps from the most popular attractions in town. But for guests looking to escape the tourist hustle and bustle, it’s a winner as well. Overlooking Monterey Bay, the hotel’s boardwalk and pier extends out over the water, offering coastal views along with a quiet place to simply sit, and enjoy the seaside.
The InterContinental The Clement Monterey offers 208 guestrooms and suites with views of Monterey Bay and Cannery Row. Accommodations are spread between two buildings, connected by a skybridge that stretches across Cannery Row’s roadway. (Offering a bird’s-eye view of the historic neighborhood, it’s worth a look regardless of where your room is located.)
Check-in was efficient and friendly; it took little time for my family to make our way to our room on the fourth floor of the Ocean Front Building. Bright and spacious, even with two double beds, a fireplace lit with the touch of a button, and a dedicated corner sitting area with a cushy chair and table, there was still plenty of room for two parents and a teenager. Sliding glass doors opened to a balcony with Cannery Row views, and let in an enjoyable amount of natural light.
Even though it was topped with a Nespresso coffee machine, electric tea kettle, and power strip, the large desk still offered ample space to work, if needed, or spread out travel gear. It was also impressively easy to plug in at the wide nightstand located between the double beds. In addition to two USB ports in the phone, a squid-style, multi-tip charging cord, provides power for cell phones, and an assortment of electronic gadgets with ease.
A chock-full minibar is tucked away inside a dresser, but there’s no refrigerator in the room for guest use.

A portion of Dana’s stay was hosted by the InterContinental The Clement Monterey, but as always her thoughts and opinions are her own.
