A Review of the Family-Friendly Westin Casuarina Resort on Grand Cayman

Westin Casaurina Grand Cayman
I’ve stayed at quite a few hotel chains, and in my opinion, the Westin Hotels are really some of the best for consistency and quality.  When I stay at a Westin, I know I’m going to have great service, a comfortable bed, and a great bath/shower.  The Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa, located on Grand Cayman, is no exception.  I recently stayed there for four nights with my daughter, and was pleased with the entire experience.

Seven Mile BeachThe Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa offers more ocean-view rooms than any other hotel on the island.  Our view was of the parking lot, but we didn’t actually spend too much time in the room during this press trip.  But I’d recommend springing for the ocean-view room if you do plan to spend lots of time at the resort – it’s well worth it.  Our room, as well as the hallways, did show signs of wear, but a renovation is planned, and samples of the colors and carpeting are on display in the lobby.

We spent our time going between the large freshwater pool (the largest on the island) and the beach, and couldn’t decide which we preferred.  The pool was uncrowded and warm, while the ocean is clear, calm, and soothing.  The resort is located right on Seven Mile Beach and offers a Red Sail Sports kiosk where you can rent wave runners, snorkel equipment, and other ocean sports gear. We didn’t rent snorkel equipment at the hotel, but we did see some fish swimming around our legs as we just stood in the water.

In addition to the 343 rooms, the Westin Casuarina Resort also offers a spa, several restaurants, a few shops, a swim up pool bar, and a lobby bar.  We ate breakfast at the on-site Ferdinand’s Restaurant, which offered some fabulous food and amazing service.  Our servers remembered us each day, and even brought me an iced coffee in a to-go cup to enjoy as we left the restaurant.

The Westin Casuarina is about a 10 minutes ride from the airport, and is close to many restaurants and attractions.  There’s also an on-site car rental desk if you plan on taking any day trips.
