Convenience ranks high when choosing a place to call home during a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
Located just three blocks from the Park’s West entrance, the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone boasts a location that’s tough to beat. But there’s more to this property than its’ address; with amenities like an indoor pool, fitness center, and game room, you might find yourself wishing you had more time to relax at the hotel.
The property offers 123 rooms, ranging from Deluxe Suites with fireplaces, to Family Rooms, and Standard Rooms. During my time in Yellowstone, I stayed in a room with two queen beds on the second floor. Even with two beds, the room was still quite spacious. Along with a corner sitting area and desk, the room was equipped with a generous refrigerator, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. Multiple, easy to reach electrical plugs at the bedside table and desk make plugging electronics simple.
The bathroom was split in two. The vanity with single sink is located in the living area of the room, but the toilet and the shower is behind a door in a separate space. The split design makes the space usable by more than one person without sacrificing privacy.
Though technically not a family room, the space and amenities of a room with two queen beds would work nicely for parents with kids in tow.

In theory, guests at the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone will be spending most of their time in the National Park, but the hotel doesn’t use that as an excuse to scrimp on amenities and entertainment options.
In addition to an indoor heated pool and hot tub, there’s a fitness center, and a daily, complimentary yoga and Pilates class for guests. The game room features a Foosball table, air hockey and numerous televisions equipped with Xbox One consoles.
Complimentary 30-minute tours of West Yellowstone are offered nightly at 6pm. Before you head out on the town, you can grab ice cream or a chocolate chip cookie from the Ice Cream Social set-up in the lobby. The complimentary sweets are offered daily from 4pm to 8pm.
It’s worth saving a little time to walk through the restored Pullman rail car that also calls the hotel home. Built in 1903, the self-guided tour only takes a few minutes and can be done day or night.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at The Branch, the hotel’s onsite Restaurant and Bar. Happy Hour takes place daily from 4pm to 6pm.
Making the choice to stay outside the borders of the National Park borders has its benefits. Loaded with shopping and restaurants, West Yellowstone is a nice place to wander in the evening. In the morning, travelers have an easy commute into the park.
Room rates start at $134 off-season. Free Wi-Fi and parking. An added perk, complimentary clothes washers and dryers are available for guests.
