For the first time in years, London has been named as world’s best destination for 2019 in TripAdvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice awards (yes: it beat out Paris and Rome this go round).
There’s still time for a visit this year — and here are a half-dozen stellar luxury suites to provide the perfect base from which to explore Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, the British Museum, and Oxford Street — and maybe catch a show at the “new old” Globe Theater.
The Tudor Suite at The Milestone Hotel & Residences includes an ornate Tudor Rose ceiling and extraordinary glass chandelier. The beautifully designed king-size bedroom has a four-poster bed and a living area that leads into an additional living room, distinctly inspired by the Tudor period between 1485 and 1603, with traditional rich oak paneling lining the walls. Intricate features can be discovered on walls enriched with hanging tapestries and embroideries. With two fireplaces and comfortable, bespoke seating, a cozy ambiance is achieved in a grand setting. Side views of Kensington Gardens can be admired from three large sets of light-filled windows.
The Master Suite (also called The King’s Suite) at The Rubens at the Palace is a spacious 55 square meters, with a connecting lounge overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace. The bedroom features a magnificent four-poster bed with an en-suite bathroom and a living area featuring an optional Murphy bed, perfect for families or guests traveling together. With luxury fabric walls and eye catching leopard print furnishings, this room is the perfect getaway for a special occasion. When booking this room, you will be invited to the hotel bar for canapés daily between 6-8 p.m. Exclusive amenities also includes a free glass of Champagne at check-on, fruit bowls replenished each day, and welcome signature truffles.
The Stanhope Suite at The Chesterfield Mayfair is multi-functional suite with a gloriously traditional English feel in rich fabrics in warm neutrals. The split-level bedroom features a raised area where you can take Afternoon Tea or relax. The living area has a dining table that seats six and enough business space and technology to stay in touch with the world throughout your stay. Other features include Canapés delivered nightly, an Espresso machine and Jing tea.

A combination of wonderful views of the Royal Mews, a Nepresso machine, and penthouse seclusion makes this an unforgettable setting for a romantic getaway.
The Victoria and Albert Suite at The Egerton House Hotel is named after Britain’s beloved Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. This suite is filled with warm red décor and has a separate lounge area that takes you back to the time of the Tudors. Unique furniture and lavish fabrics are the extra touches that adorn the room. Located on the ground floor, the suite is ideal for families, featuring two comfortable sofa beds, and a gold four poster bed in the main bedroom. The separate sitting lounge has floor-length French doors that open to the private outside Garden Terrace, where guests can spend their day surrounded by the quietness and privacy of the Egerton Gardens. The Victoria & Albert suite is packed with additional amenities such as a Nespresso machine, a Garden Terrace Cocktail Bar where guests can mix their favorite drink, and a Games and Toys cabinet.
The Bedford Suite at The Montague on the Gardens is named after the successive Dukes of Bedford, who all played a part in creating Bloomsbury This new suite is a beautiful celebration of the local area. Guests can enter through their own private street entrance or from the hotel, to discover the spectacular Suite with a bedroom, living and dining room, two outdoor patios and two stunning dark blue, Caesar stone marble bathrooms. The extravagant décor is what makes this suite unique, with its striking blue-and-white theme that enriches the light-filled space. Walls are hung with elegantly striped silk wallpaper, and feature artwork by Spanish artist and sculptor Joan Miró and renowned French artist Henri Matisse. Large windows frame views of evergreen trellises, while fresh flowers can be found in each room. To make room for larger parties, the Suite also interconnects with the hotel’s Guvnor’s Suite, creating a combined three-bedroom and three-bathroom super suite.
