If your plans include Prague, you can’t choose a better central location in the city than the Boutique Hotel Golden Key. Located in the middle of the historical center of Prague’s Prague 1 neighborhood, it is in the Castle District of the city center.
Prague is one of the trendiest destinations in Europe these days. A walkable city imbued with elegance and charm, it artfully marries the old and new, tradition and trendy, along with a requisite castle and river joined by romantic bridges.
At the Golden Key Prague, you will experience boutique comfort and charm along with a legendary breakfast made fresh daily with farm-to-table ingredients from local purveyors. The croissants are the best east of Paris and taste as if they were flown fresh directly from France.
The hotel was reopened in October 2014 after an extensive renovation. Centrally located on Nerudova street, many of Prague’s attractions are short walks away, though be aware the area is hilly. Heading up the hill, a 7-minute walk away, is the sprawling Prague Castle. St. Vitus Cathedral is just another minute further.
Heading downhill you encounter the Lennon Wall (about a 9-minute walk) with the iconic Charles Bridge about a 12-minute walk from Golden Key hotel. The Old Town Square and the Jewish quarter are within a 20-minute walk.
The Rooms at Golden Key Prague
I stayed in room #3 on the first floor, easily accessed by the elevator. Spacious and modern, it included a large picture window overlooking the courtyard, desk, refrigerator, minibar, coffee maker, personal safe, and complimentary freshly baked cookies for snacking. Free WiFi is available in all rooms as it is in the public spaces.
All 25 rooms come with a flat-screen satellite TV, high-quality beds with premium bedding, and a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination. Extra features include bathrobes, slippers, and hair dryer. An added bonus for me were the L’Occitane products stocked in large containers in the bathroom – one of my favorites.
Central Prague Hotel Guest Amenities
The front reception desk is staffed 24/7 by a multilingual staff. All staff appeared to be fluent in English and were the tops in their professional yet personal courtesies. A concierge is available for all your needs, including tours/ticket assistance.
Along with a fitness center with sauna, this hotel has a bar/lounge and a coffee shop/café on site called Designum where they serve homemade cakes, pastries and pies. However, don’t miss the legendary breakfast which is served onsite.
Other amenities include a business center and meeting rooms, a garden, and terrace. The hotel is also pet friendly for a small surcharge. Check-in time is at 3 pm. Plus, an airport shuttle is available and can be booked for about EUR 35. I booked the shuttle for 4 am in the morning, and found the service to be prompt, efficient, and courteous.
Golden Key Prague is a 4-star boutique hotel managed by Asten Hotels, a company that lives by its motto of providing excellence and care. You can count on this at any of their specially curated properties, as they are known for having a collection of the best luxury boutique hotels in Prague. This includes one of their newest properties by Charles River, the Rezidence Dvorak and Bohemian Bistro. Their name is synonymous with being innovators in design, furnishings and services in the boutique market.

Rates on popular booking sites will vary based on season, day of the week, and whether breakfast is included. Rates can run from $107-$127 USD, and even higher during peak times in the summer. They include free WiFi and spa access. (I highly recommend that you include their legendary breakfast as it is well worth it with freshly baked pastries daily and farm-to-table freshness with all their products.)
