Something about the lobby at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort lets you know you’re in for a fun stay. Maybe it’s the primo ocean view. Perhaps, the scads of blooming water lilies. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s the giant sandbox that sits smack dab in the center of the lobby.
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is one of eight hotels and resorts that are part of the Wailea Resort Association. Set on 15 beachfront acres, the posh property recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a number of upgrades and enhancements.
Rooms With Views
Featuring 320 guestrooms, including 35 suites and 30 villas, I stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View Suite on the 5th floor. Boasting a pair of balconies with stellar ocean panoramas, the scenery is the star of the show here, but I appreciated the design and layout of the suite.
Traveling with my 20-something year-old daughter in tow, the living room essentially served as her bedroom. Bright and filled with natural light, the space featured a large sleeper sofa, small dining table, television, desk, and a buffet-style cabinet that housed a small refrigerator with non-alcoholic drinks, a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, and assorted snacks that were replenished daily. There was also a half-bath just off the entrance to suite.

The bedroom featured the same natural color palette. Behind the king bed, sliding shutters revealed a huge walk-in shower and bathroom. The double sink vanity was generous on space, and drawers made it even easier to keep things organized. Next to the shower was a large soaking tub; a Toto toilet was tucket in a corner water closet.
Resort Activities
The Deluxe Ocean View Suite makes it easy to enjoy staying put and doing nothing, but this is Wailea, so much of your time will likely be spent out and about.
For guests that have a hard time sitting still during vacation, the resort organizes a rich selection of cultural and outdoor activities. Fitness classes ranging from yoga and Pilates, to stretching and core strength, are offered first thing every morning.
Andaz Maui also schedules outrigger canoe paddling excursions, kayaking tours, lei making, hula and ukele lessons. And don’t forget the beach and handful of pools. With little effort, it’s easy to fill a day.
Need to move more? There’s a spacious, well-stocked fitness center with Peloton spin bikes. Need to move less? The ʻĀwili Spa and Salon offers massages, facials, and salon services including manicures, pedicures, hair styling and more.
Delicious Dining Choices at Andaz Maui
The hotel boasts numerous dining options. Open for breakfast and dinner, Ka’ana Kitchen serves farm-to-table cuisine. Morimoto offers upscale lunch and dinner offerings while poolside Lehua Lounge provides casual service for lunch and dinner. Bumbye Beach Bar features cocktails, beer, and wine, alongside small bites and salads, while Mokapu Market is the place for grab and go offerings.
If you’re pondering a luau while visiting Maui, the Feast at Mokapu Luau is a fun and educational beachfront experience. Offered Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, it’s a smaller more intimate affair and meals are served tableside, not offered via a buffet like most other luaus on the island.
Kahului Airport is a 16-mile drive from the Andaz Maui. Plan on 30 minutes to reach the Maui Ocean Center and about an hour to make the trip to popular Kaanapali Beach Resort on West Maui. Some businesses in fire-ravaged Lahaina have reopened and welcome respectful visitors, but a majority of the community remains off limits.
The starting rate for a Deluxe Ocean View Suite Residential Garden View Suite at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is $1700. A $50 daily resort fee covers an assortment of offerings including Wi-Fi, mini-bar refreshments, self-serve laundry facilities, as well as water and cultural activities. Valet parking is available for a fee. To check prices for suites or other room configurations, you can use Booking.com or Expedia.
Andaz Maui is dog-friendly. There is a $100 per stay pet fee. Dogs must weigh 50 pounds or less.
Review and photos by San Francisco Bay Area travel writer and television correspondent Dana Rebmann. Her stay was organized by Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, but as always her thoughts and opinions are her own.
Stunning featured photo. The multiple pools with sea view is eerily similar to one I will be posting next week. 🙂
