Downtown Atlanta is home to many corporations, including Coca-Cola, so it’s no surprise that there are an abundance of business hotels located throughout the city. On a recent trip to the city, I had the opportunity to stay at one of the four W Hotels located in Atlanta – the W Atlanta Downtown. It was my first visit to a W Hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised at how trendy and luxurious it was.
Upon checking in, I was immediately greeted with some delicious fruit water at check in. Although it was earlier than the official check-in time, my room was ready, and I headed right up to my room on the 15th floor. The rooms at the W are perfect for business travelers, including plenty of outlets and a large desk. Internet is (unfortunately) available for an additional charge, and you can choose high speed or lower speed. Of course, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and the room is quite spacious, with a large shower.
Since I had a free day before my conference started, I headed up to the rooftop pool on the 16th floor. The pool (pictured above) is amazing – it’s the perfect location to relax. The water, however, was a bit chilly. There’s also a Bliss spa located right near the pool – they also supply all of the toiletries in the hotel rooms.
The W Atlanta – Downtown boasts a BLT Steak restaurant, a bar, and room service. I ordered dinner at the bar one night, and ate at the restaurant the next. The food, which all comes from the same kitchen, is excellent. Room service is a great option if you want to get work done in your room while dining, but the Living Room bar is also a great spot to spread out and relax. Complimentary coffee and tea is available in the Living Room in the mornings, along with continental breakfast (for an additional fee).
Whether you are in Atlanta for business or pleasure, the W Atlanta -Downtown is in a great location. It’s located less than a mile from the World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, and Phillips Arena. In addition, many corporate offices are located right around the corner. Acura vehicle transportation is available for short rides, or the MARTA station is located nearby. Rates for a standard room are generally around $200-$300, with discounts often available for prepaid reservations.

Disclosure: My stay at the W Atlanta – Downtown was complimentary, due to my attendance at an unrelated conference. All opinions are my own.
