Looking for a hotel close to Billings Logan International Airport? Billings Hotel and Convention Center is our pick for the business traveler as it was recently renovated and was affordably priced. Located in Billings, Montana’s largest city, the hotel features 229 rooms and is only 6 miles from the airport.
I was attending a Travel Blogger conference in Billings and opted to stay at the hotel for convenience and price. This was my first time to visit Billings and I wanted to see as much of this city as possible during the four days of my stay. What I learned about Montana’s Trailhead was that everything in Montana started in Billings. The city was built by the railroad and was named after Northern Pacific Railroad President Frederick Billings.
Local sights in downtown
There are plenty of things to see and do in Billings including a visit to the historic Moss Mansion, the Billings Depot (a former train station) and the Western Heritage Center in the downtown historic district.
Formerly a public library built in 1901, the Western Heritage Center was one of the first public buildings on the railroad track side of town. This little museum is Smithsonian-affiliated and worth a visit. If you have time, take the historical walking tour titled Bars, Brothels and Bok Choy.
FYI, the hotel is not within walking distance of downtown Billings. You’ll want to have your own car or take an Uber. Parking is complimentary at the hotel. I didn’t have a car during my visit and found that Uber transportation was more expensive than in my hometown of San Francisco.

Hotel rooms at Billings Convention Center
All rooms at the 3 star hotel were updated in 2018, in addition to new carpet. Rooms range from a single king bed, to double queen beds or the two room Honeymoon suites with Jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Additionally, there was a full service restaurant on site, Stony Brook Cafe, however, I didn’t dine there during my stay.
My double queen room rented for $169 – $199 and included a tub/shower combination, mini fridge, microwave oven, in-room clock and Pomona bath amenities. I liked that the lamp between the two beds had charge ports included for smartphones.
Indoor pool and hot tub
Parents traveling with children will appreciate the indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Two waterslides, one enclosed, one open, splash into the main heated pool. Be advised that no lifeguard was on duty at the pool.
If you are traveling for an extended amount of time, you may appreciate the on-site laundry services. Laundry room open 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Guests looking to fit in a workout between business meetings might like the small gym with Life Fitness machines and treadmill. Exercise room open 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Complimentary airport shuttle service
I’m always grateful when a hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. The staff at the hotel were friendly and service-oriented. One guest I spoke with said that his rental car was not yet ready for pickup at the airport on departure day. The shuttle driver willingly drove him to and from the airport several times without a second thought. Service with a smile, that’s the way business is done at The Billings Hotel.
The Billings Hotel and Convention Center is located at 1223 Mullowney Lane, Billings, MT 59101. Check in time: 3:00 p.m. Check out: 11:00 a.m.
