Family Fun and Luxury at the Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vermont

Stowe Mountain LodgeI really enjoy visiting Vermont in the summer.  Stowe, our favorite area of Vermont, is only a four-hour drive from our home West of Boston, and it’s a great summer vacation destination.  This summer, right before school started up for my kids, we visited the Stowe Mountain Lodge for a two-day vacation.  We loved it so much that I’m hoping we can return for a winter ski vacation.

Our two-bedroom suite was located in recently-added South Wing.  The whole resort, which was build in 2008, offers 312 rooms and looks brand-new.  Depending on your family’s needs, you can find the perfect room configuration, from a standard hotel room to a four-bedroom penthouse suite (great for a small family reunion).  The resort also offers a world-class spa, a few retail shops, a heated four-season outdoor pool, a large fitness center, a several on-site restaurants, and many winter and summer activities.

The rooms at the Stowe Mountain Lodge are fabulous.  With high-end appliances to lodge-themed furnishings, we felt like we were in total luxury for the entire stay.  I especially loved the incredibly comfortable bed, which was covered with Comphy-brand sheets and duvets.  We actually purchased the sheets in the spa, because they were amazingly comfortable.  The suites with kitchens include a full refrigerator, coffee pot (with coffee), gas stove, microwave, pots, pans, utensils, a dishwasher, and an oven.  You could easily prepare all of your meals in the room, although we opted to order room service and eat in the restaurant instead (I don’t enjoy cooking on vacation).   Suites also include a washer and dryer, but no detergent, so bring your own (or you can purchase some in the gift shop).  The only negative to the rooms, in my opinion, is the small sinks in the bathroom, I’d prefer larger, double sinks.

Alpine Slide Stowe Mountain Lodge

While we were at the Stowe Mountain Lodge, we participated in several activities, including the on-site alpine slide, the climbing wall, and the bungee trampoline.  We had a day-pass, and could have easily spend the day there.  But, the large heated pool was waiting, and my kids couldn’t wait to jump in.  It was perfectly heated, and we hung out around the pool for several hours.  I also visited the full-service spa with my two children.  While I got a reflexology treatment, they visited the kids’ chillax spa and had hand and foot treatments.  The spa is huge – with lots of treatment rooms and a cozy, warm feel to it.  The women’s locker room offers a rain shower, soaking tub, steam room, and sauna which is complimentary to those getting a spa treatment (or hotel guests can purchase a $25 day pass).

I’d definitely recommend visiting the Stowe Mountain Lodge – we can’t wait to return!
