I am amazed: our two-room suite comfortably fits ten women. Normally, of course, I don’t spend a lot of time crammed into a hotel room with nine other people, but on this particular day, we have our reasons. While we had started the day with just five (my sister, me, and her three other bridesmaids), by mid-morning there are ten women rushing around in our hotel room: one bride-to-be, three bridesmaids, one maid of honor, one mom, and four amazing women from Trio Makeup and Hair Salon, all of whom are lugging huge suitcases full of makeup, curlers, bobby pins, and hair dryers. And in all that flurry, nobody trips over anything all day—not even once.
Therefore, my verdict stands: If ten women can comfortably populate a two-room suite on the day of somebody’s wedding, this fact alone seems reason enough to book a room at the Doubletree Hotel in Roswell, Georgia. The rooms really are that roomy.
If you’re the more traditional kind of traveler who doesn’t really need all that space, though, consider this: you’ll find an absolutely adorable embroidered “Sweet Dreams” pillow atop each firm-yet-soft bed (see photo above). You’ll come across a trickling waterfall in the lobby. You’ll have a hot southern breakfast (complete, even, with fluffy biscuits and real sausage gravy!) at the Dogwood Café. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself falling asleep watching some humdrum romantic comedy on the 37-inch high definition television in your bedroom. Whatever makes you comfortable, at the Doubletree hotel in Roswell, Georgia, getting a good night’s sleep is not something you’ll have to worry about when you stay here. And for the two nights I stayed here last weekend, I couldn’t have asked for anything else from a hotel. (Perhaps an elevator that didn’t smell like leaking oil, but it’s not the hotel’s fault that we were staying here on the one weekend they were doing maintenance on their elevators).
The Doubletree Hotel, which is owned and operated by Hilton Hotel Atlanta, isn’t exactly a resort with pristine views, but it’s a lovely facility on a hill. It’s a perfect place for business travelers, overnight stays, and family accommodations. During last weekend, for instance, the place was populated with the families and friends of four different wedding parties (I can only assume news of the “Sweet Dreams” pillows had spread). There are 172 guest rooms at this particular location, all of which come with free high-speed internet access, and rates, depending on the kind of room you book, start at $75/night (compared to hotel rates in downtown Atlanta, by the way, this rate is spectacular). You can also book a two-room suite, like we did, with two full baths and French doors between the living room and bedroom. Additionally, there’s plenty of parking outside, so if you bring your car, you won’t even have to worry about finding a parking space. Conversely, if you don’t have a car, you’re even in better luck: the facility offers complimentary shuttle services to the nearest MARTA station or anywhere within five miles of the hotel.
So, if you’re in the mood to visit this beautiful suburb in north Atlanta, wedding to attend or not, definitely consider this hotel on the hill. As with any Doubletree Hotel, even if you don’t sleep well, you’ll be greeted with a warm chocolate-chip cookie, and there isn’t anything much friendlier–or tastier–than that.

A special thanks to the Doubletree for providing us with a complimentary suite on the night before my sister’s wedding.
Kristen, I enjoyed reading about your wedding party stay. It sounds like a blast. You could almost make up a 12 Days of Christmas kind of song with the descriptions of the people in the room at one time.
Jamie,
Thank you so much! It certainly WAS a blast 🙂 And I love your idea about the 12 Days of Christmas kind of song–perhaps I’ll write something like that and give it to my sister as a post-wedding gift 🙂
Kristin
If you do, sing it to her. Maybe you could get some of the others to be involved. It is a catchy tune. You already wrote one line in your post
“Four ladies from Trio Make-up”
Fantastic idea!!!! And your article captures the personality of the hotel perfectly. Nikkea at Trio would love to know they are included!
