Looking for a hotel in the historic center of Cusco where rates go for a reasonable price? Check into the Costa del Sol Ramada Cusco.
Just about every international traveler to Peru schedules a stop in Cusco. Considered the home base for trips to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, this mountain city in the Andes boasts Inca civilization ruins, colonial-era history, and is the seat of a vibrant cultural heritage.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site
It’s the former capital city of the Incas and is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Americas. This is recognized by its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located at an elevation of 11,152 feet, Cusco’s population is comprised of descendants from the Quechua-speaking groups that were the basis of the Inca Empire.
Cusco as a Popular Stop
Since Cusco is extremely popular with tourists, there are many types of overnight accommodations that fit almost every budget. A favorite of mine is Hotel Costa del Sol Ramada Cusco. With awesome city views from the rooms, exceptional service, and delicious included breakfasts, it is a gem.
Plus, its proximity to downtown attractions makes it an excellent base from which to explore the Inca civilization and colonial heritage that defines this Andes city. The San Pedro Train Station is nearby and other close by attractions include the Central Market, Cathedral of Cusco, and Inka Museum.
A known and trusted name for many travelers, the Costa del Sol chain features hotels in the 7 most important cities in Peru.
Costa del Sol Ramada Cusco Location
The hotel Costa del Sol Ramada Cusco is located in a colonial-era mansion that is considered part of the cultural heritage of the city of Cusco. The building dates back to the 17th century, when the Marquis de Picoaga arrived in the city and built himself a new home.
The hotel consists of a colonial wing and a contemporary wing, with stone archways, an inviting patio with a swimming pool, a fountain, and original murals dating from the architecture of the 17th century. Colonial details include rooms with high beamed ceilings and wooden gates.
The hotel is just a short walk from Cusco Main Square and La Merced Church.
