What’s better than a day of wine tasting in Oregon’s Umpqua Valley? Spending several days at the wine-friendly Delfino Vineyards Bed and Breakfast in Roseburg. The family-owned bed and breakfast is also home to Delfino Vineyards. Winery owners Terri and Jim Delfino like nothing better than introducing you to their wines and the beautiful Umpqua Valley in southern Oregon.
Personally, I’d return simply for Jim’s breakfast basket, included with your stay. More about that later.
Sense of place in Roseburg, Oregon
Perched on 160 acres, Delfino Vineyards Bed and Breakfast was formerly home to a cattle ranch. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into planting their Syrah, Tempranillo, Müller Thurgau and Zinfandel, among other wine varietals. Now the husband and wife couple is all smiles when it comes to wine tasting and entertaining bed and breakfast guests. With 18 acres planted in vineyards, guests of the B & B are able to stroll the property and take in the sweeping views of Oregon’s Umpqua Valley.

When you stay at Delfino Vineyards Bed and Breakfast in Roseburg, you’ll not only be able to taste their award-winning wines, you’ll have a bottle of wine all to yourself upon afternoon check-in. In addition to a complimentary wine tasting at Delfino Vineyards there are plenty of recreational opportunities in Roseburg including fishing the Umpqua River in Elkton, Oregon.
There are several good restaurants in downtown Roseburg, however, the guest cottage includes a full kitchen and access to an outdoor barbecue. During our visit a cheese plate with crackers was waiting for us in the full-size refrigerator. Thoughtful touches include microwave popcorn, fresh fruit and farm fresh eggs if you select the in-room pantry breakfast option, as opposed to the breakfast basket.
We enjoyed a two night stay at Delfino Vineyards Bed and Breakfast in Roseburg. This way we were able to explore more of Roseburg and the southern Umpqua Valley. The bonus for this foodie was that we were able to enjoy both the pantry breakfast option, with eggs from their very own chickens, as well as the hand-delivered breakfast basket. As I mentioned above, I would return to Delfino Vineyards B & B for another go at Jim’s homemade scones.
They also open their property to Harvest Host members if you prefer the RV life over a traditional bed and breakfast. I’m told the owners put on a fun concert series in the summer for Roseburg locals, as well as those visiting the Umpqua Valley. Check their website for additional details.
The guest cottage is filled with antiques and the queen bed is very comfortable. There is an antique wood armoire with glass mirror in the bedroom. Inside, two white cotton robes are available for guest use if they take advantage of the outdoor hot tub.
The guest cottage is next door to the owner’s primary residence. Guests have access to the small lap pool, hot tub and winery grounds. There is a small pond on property for bird watchers and sunset gazers to enjoy.
While the owners love pets, the bed and breakfast is not pet-friendly. You’ll need to leave your dog at home if you stay overnight at the guest cottage. As an alternative, Delfino Vineyards recommends a boarding kennel for cats and dogs that is literally across the street from the Roseburg property. We boarded our dog at Camp Kodah and our Labrador Retriever was showered with treats and plenty of attention.
Rates at Delfino Vineyards Bed and Breakfast start at $300 per night. The cottage accommodates 4 people if utilizing the living room sofa bed. Multi-night stays are encouraged with an additional discount. Check the website for rates and availability. You can also check rates at Hotels.com or Expedia and make your reservations there.
