The World Of Hall Arts And Hospitality
Hotel Owners, Craig and Kathryn Hall embody the principles of hospitality and graciousness. Kathryn’s family founded Hall Winery in Napa Valley in the 1970s which coincidentally is known not only for award-winning wines but an enviable art collection.
The property collaborated with former chief curator of the U.S. Department of State’s ‘Arts in Embassies’ Program, Virginia Shore, to curate a collection of specially commissioned pieces for the hotel’s common areas, suites, and event and meeting spaces.
The hotel, designed by HKS, is really an extension of the Dallas Arts District, the largest contiguous arts district in the country. Art is everywhere: hanging from the ceilings, on the walls, and on pedestals…there’s even an outdoor art walk through the district.
Be sure to schedule a tour of the collection, available to hotel guests only, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Afterward, you can head to Ellie’s Lounge or one of the nearby patios for happy hour.
Arts District Attractions
The location is fantastic for a weekend spent enjoying Dallas’ enviable cultural scene and nightlife. Check out the Dallas Museum of Art, The Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. Or take in a play at the Wyley Theater; Opera at the ATT Performing Arts Center, or a Beethoven symphony at the Meyerson Symphony Center. All venues are within minutes of the hotel.
Insider Tip: Get up early for photo ops in the fountains in front of the AT&T Center. I know it’s hard to get up and out early but this is a well-known and popular spot for photos and there are generally people at all times of the day.

The Rooms
Hall Arts Hotel comprises 183 guest rooms of which there are 19 are arts district-inspired suites. My king suite with a city view was spacious enough for entertaining with contemporary and sleek furnishings meant to showcase the art and the city views.
Rooms range from 350 – 1700 square feet. Most suites are approximately 750 – 800 square feet. The largest suite, the Grand Finale, is 1700 square feet. There are even hearing-accessible rooms with visual doorbells and alarms. All rooms include complimentary Wifi, walk-in showers, and Frette crisp linens.

Room service and other hotel amenities are at your fingertips via the bedside iPad. Tablet. Control of the room temperature, lights, and drapes is also via the tablet though you can also opt for the old-school way.
Art Hotel Bathrooms
The glass-enclosed bathroom definitely adds some drama to the room. You could theoretically enjoy a view of the Dallas skyline while soaking in the oversized tub. Spacious enough for two people the bathroom features a double sink with enough countertop space to spread out. All of the suites feature soaking tubs, Natura Bisse bath products, and a powder room just off the living room.

Dining Options
Ellie’s Restaurant and Lounge is on the second floor, a Napa Valley-inspired dining space named for owner Craig Hall’s mother. Serving brunch, lunch, and dinner, the atmosphere is casual but elegant and the service was always efficient and friendly. At Ellie’s restaurant, I tried the scallops and grits for dinner which was so flavorful I wanted a second order. The chimichurri steak with elotes (Mexican street corn) was tender and just the right temperature.
Happy hour is offered in the Lounge Monday thru Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with live entertainment. I had a classic Aperol spritz and a flatbread. The happy hour menu is more extensive than you might expect and the food was delicious. When the weather allows, Ellie’s Terrace, an extension of the restaurant offers outdoor dining and Sunday brunch.
Other dining options in the area are plentiful and most are within walking distance. You can find anything from Asian fusion to an Irish pub, or a classic breakfast at Yolk.

Hall Arts Hotel is popular with both business and leisure travelers. For the business traveler, the hotel has dedicated meeting and event spaces.
Fitness Studio: HALL Arts Hotel is home to a 2,900 square foot fitness studio including floor-to-ceiling windows, Matrix strength and cardio equipment, TRX Modular Suspension Training, and Peloton cycling machines.
Leisure travelers will enjoy the rooftop pool area, Waves, with killer city views and outdoor casual dining.
The hotel is valet parking only. Daytime parking for up to 4 hours is $20. Parking is $25 for 4- 8 hours, and overnight parking is $45.
