Surfland Hotel by the Sea in Lincoln City Makes a Splash

As a former California resident, new to the state of Oregon, I’m visiting the Oregon coast from a local’s perspective. I’m exploring all the beach towns and discovering their unique vibes. Today I landed in Lincoln City. My Surfland Hotel by the Sea review takes a dive into Lincoln City and makes a splash. In fact, our winter visit brought us rain and snow for a double splash. Whether you travel with kids, pets or your favorite person, you’ll want to read this Lincoln City hotel review.

Surfland Hotel Highlights

Previously called The Nordic Oceanfront Inn, Surfland Hotel by the Sea is the latest acquisition by VIP Hospitality Group. The family-owned Oregon company has boutique coastal hotels, a Eugene, Oregon hotel and budget-friendly hotels in Oregon and Washington state. While considered a 3-star hotel, I’d place the Surfland Hotel in the affordable price range category. For a beach-front hotel, the prices are definitely family-friendly.

Wooden carved statue of a surfer dude, holding a wooden surfboard that says Surfland. He has on a white shirt and blue swim trunks, made of wood and painted. He is on a raised, wooden platform. A fresh blanked of snow surrounds the surfer guy wood carving.

Located down the street from their sister property, Coho Oceanfront Lodge, the 3-story Surfland Hotel is clean with a beach vibe. You’ll see what I mean when you pull up to the entrance and are greeted by a larger-than-life surfer dude statue. From dining at nearby restaurants I’ve noticed a lot of photography and artwork with a surf-theme. Our waitress told us that some Lincoln City beaches are famous for good surfing. We watched a lot of large waves pound the shore from our oceanfront Surfland hotel room.

Guest rooms and amenities in Lincoln City

The hotel management has recently invested in a lot of upgrades and amenities in their renovation. The 53-room property featured an indoor swimming pool with a hot tub and a double sauna. We didn’t pack our robes with us this trip (and it was snowing) so we passed on the sauna.

The brand new fire pit in the patio area will be an asset to the beachfront hotel, as will the bocce court and the large Connect-4 game. I can visualize guests gathering around the gas campfire after a day at the beach.

Family and budget-friendly hotel

Our room was a king studio with a gas fireplace, small refrigerator, microwave and wonderful ocean view. Coffee packets from Portland Roasting Company are available in room, as well as assorted tea offerings.

It should be noted that there is no elevator at Surfland Hotel. Our room was located on the third floor. If mobility is an issue, request a first-floor room.

Kids will like the indoor swimming pool and hot tub. The pool is open from morning to evening, with adult-only hours offered later in the night. There are towels on-hand at the pool. No need to schlep towels from your hotel room.
