On a prime stretch of beach just north of the Puerto Vallarta airport, Wyndham Alltra Riviera Nayarit is a good-value all-inclusive resort for an easy beach getaway in Mexico.
This all-inclusive beach resort for families and couples is in the area formerly named Nuevo Vallarta, which made sense, but is now called “Nuevo Nayarit” to designate that it’s in a different state than Puerto Vallarta proper, which is in Jalisco. To make matters a little more confusing for now, this used to be a Dreams resort until it switched to the Wyndham brand in late 2022.
Most visitors don’t even realize that Bandaras Bay is split by a state line and most shouldn’t really care if they’re here to lounge by the beach and pool. You just take a left out of the airport instead of a right.
Pools and Beach at Wyndham Alltra
This stretch of sand here is nicer and longer than any you’ll find in more compact Puerto Vallarta though and if you wanted you could walk for hours on this beach heading north. Then you can stretch out in one of Wyndham Alltra’s lounge chairs and ask the waiter to keep the drinks coming while you watch the waves lap the shore.
This is a good beach for strolling but also a good one for boogie boarding when the waves pick up, with no hidden rocks. Within driving distance are a few surf breaks and Bucarias a bit to the north is a popular kite-surfing destination. Unlike in the Caribbean, there’s no sargassum seaweed to deal with on this coast.
This Wyndham Alltra Riviera Nayarit resort appears to have three swimming pools when you look down from your balcony, but this hotel really only occupies one building out of three in a large complex: the other two buildings are condos. The condo owners and renters are not on the same plan, so you often see them drinking out of their big insulated drink mugs while you are ordering from the bar and it’s mostly hotel guests in the two outdoor restaurants by the swimming pools.
It doesn’t really impact your stay though because you can use any of the three pools you want, including the infinity one that’s beautiful when the sun goes down.

Meals, Drinks, and Activities
There are enough different places to eat at this all-inclusive resort that you should easily be able to stay interested in what’s on your plate for days on end. The main restaurant facing the pool by the hotel building is where the big breakfast buffet is served. It has the expected array of hot items, cold ones, pastries, fruit, and an eggs-to-order station.
This restaurant also serves lunch and dinner if you want to grab what looks good and get back to the fun. Otherwise, for lunch and dinner there are two side-by-side restaurants on the way to the beach that alternate meals and serve small plates. One is Mexican, with a focus on ceviche and tacos, while the other is Mediterranean.
Get a wow view at oSHean, a top-floor sushi bar and Asian restaurant that’s especially popular as the sun is going down. The all-inclusive plan also includes 24/7 room service if you want to dine on your balcony or have a private breakfast in your suite. Plus there’s a nice coffee shop with breakfast items and then sandwiches later if you don’t feel like eating so much.
There are also two bars: one in the lobby and one out by the beach with a few swings you can pose in. Otherwise the beach one is takeaway only though, serving as a dispensing station more than a beach bar where you spend the afternoon.
There are tennis courts on site and a full gym if you want to work off some of the indulgences. Sometimes you’ll find water aerobics or beach volleyball on the schedule, plus there’s a giant chess set by one of the pools. Or you can head to the spa for a full massage or other treatment.
The kids will have plenty to keep them busy with a dedicated kids club and planned things to do throughout the day.
Rooms at Wyndham Alltra Riviera Nayarit
The rooms at this Wyndham Alltra are all billed as Junior Suites or above and they do have much more space than your average hotel room. It helps that the big bathtub is only separated from the rest of the room by a curtain: you can open this up and the whole place feels more spacious.
There’s a sectional sofa toward the glass doors leading out to the furnished balcony. This converts to a pull-out bed if you have a child or two with you. There’s a desk with chair, a large cable TV, a minibar stocked with beer and soda, coffee maker, and an electronic safe in the ample closet. Some rooms have a whirlpool tub on the balcony in addition to the big soaking tub and separate shower.
The main difference in the rates here is the view. Since the ones facing the distant ocean over the pools are generally only $50 more double than the “tropical view” ones, they’re well worth an upgrade. Rates here are some of the best you’ll find for an all-inclusive resort in the Puerto Vallarta region that’s of a good quality at meal times. Prices drop as low as $220 double in the off-season and rarely rise above $400 when the northerners are escaping the cold in January through April.
