Pilsen Hotel Closest to the Brewery: Vienna House Easy

Are you a beer lover planning a pilgrimage to Pilsen (or Pilzen) in Czechia? You can’t get more convenient than the location of Vienna House Easy by Wyndham: it’s connected by a walkway bridge directly to the Pilsner Urquell brewery. This was the view from our room: 

We made a beeline straight over the walkway after checking in and dropping our bags. We toured the facilities, had a beer straight from the barrel, and then I went back later to get a pint at their bar that’s open to the public. Then as you can imagine, it’s not hard to find a Pilsner Urquell in town, including the unfiltered barrel version, but you can also get their Kozel dark plus there’s a good brewpub in town. 

It was easy getting to Vienna House Easy Hotel: we came by train from Germany and the train station is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. It’s also easy to explore the town of Pilsen from this property: it’s only a 10-minute walk to the huge main square. Check out the cool puppet museum (Muzeum Loutek) while you’re there and if you want a unique relaxation option, there’s a beer spa right by the plaza. 

Drinking and Dining at Vienna House Easy in Pilsen

You’ll probably want to have dinner at one of the traditional Czech restaurants in town too because options in and close to the Vienna House Easy are limited. Not for drinking though: the hotel has a full bar downstairs with two beers on tap. There’s also an outdoor garden area off the main restaurant where you can sip a beer and have some snacks. 

Breakfast may or may not be included in your rates and it’s a good value if you need to add it on. The day’s first meal is served in a sunny and inviting space on the second floor. There’s an ample buffet array of items to get your day started right, with a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, and a few hot items.

Coffee options include various espresso and cappuccino choices from a machine and various teas to choose from. You can sit outside when the weather permits. 

There are a few lounging spaces around with unique furniture and a foosball table on the main level where the bar and reception are located. Plus a few sitting areas there to play one of the board games available or read one of the books lining the shelves.

Pilsen Rooms at the Hotel

There are 144 rooms at Vienna House Easy by Wyndham and most are standard-sized rooms with two beds or two beds pushed together. This being Europe, the beds are topped with two duvets regardless and no top sheet, even though our visit was during the summer heat. I’m not sure why comforters and summer ever go together, but it was especially nonsensical with the A/C in our room that never really got cool. More on that further down… 

Otherwise the room was comfortable and ample for a few days, with all the essentials in place, including good Wi-Fi and a desk. Our room had a capsule coffee maker to get a shot of caffeine in the morning and a fridge for keeping a few cold ones on hand. The shower pressure was good and the room was surprisingly quiet at night despite facing a major road. 

One welcome design element was bedside set-up: each person gets a lamp on the end table, a gooseneck reading light that is focused, and a wall socket for recharging the gadgets. Bathroom floors are heated here too, which would be a welcome amenity in the many cold months. 

Upgrades are available to an executive level with a lounge and there are suites that have a separate living room. 

One nice touch you get at this hotel is a snack set-up near the elevator on each floor. There’s a rotating supply of nuts and dried fruits and a water dispenser is filled with water infused with citrus slices or other fruit additions. 

Additional Amenities and Booking

This Pilsen hotel has two bicycles available to rent and this is a good city for biking. There are bike lanes all over and then off-road trails leading out of town where you can ride for miles through the countryside without having to dodge cars.

There is a large fitness center on site though if that’s important, check ahead of time to make sure it’s included. It seems to be for some room reservations and not others. It includes a sauna and steam room. 

There are meeting rooms that can serve up to 400, with a separate lounge area, plus there’s ample parking for an additional fee. (Higher categories may throw in parking for free.) 

Staffers at this property are bilingual and friendly, though they weren’t very sympathetic at checkout when we brought up the warm temperatures in our room and the fact that adjusting the A/C on the thermostat didn’t do any good. They all looked at each other like, “Should we tell him or not?” But our clerk just said, “Sorry to hear that, I hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise,” and that was that. The thermostats are probably just for show and the room temperatures are fixed at “warm,” but I’m just guessing since they didn’t tell me.

While this might not be a hotel located in the same building as a brewery like I stayed in at Pivo Falkenstejn in North Bohemia, this is a chance to be right across the street from the legendary spot where Pilsner beer came to be.
