Delta Hotels St. John’s Conference Centre in Newfoundland

Newfoundland, Canada’s most eastern province, is arguably best known for the colorful homes that dot its some 18-thousand miles of coastline. Even in the region’s more populated capital city of St. John’s, there’s a picturesque charm that sticks with you. Located within walking distance of a long list of the city’s top sites, Delta Hotels St. John’s Conference Centre hotel makes for an ideal home base.

After flying throughout much of the night, I arrived at the hotel shortly before noon, unfortunately, without my checked suitcase. So, it’s not hard to imagine how thrilled I was when the front desk staff said they could get me into a room immediately.

The Delta Hotels St. John’s Conference Centre hotel features 403 rooms and suites. My standard room was located on the fifth floor. It was both welcomingly quiet, and bright thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows that dominated the exterior wall. (Heavy curtains get the job done when sleeping is a priority.) Looking out at the city and waterfront, the view provided an informative lay of the land.

Along with a king bed, the room offered a spacious desk to work or charge my assorted electronics, corner sitting area with cushy chair, generous mini-refrigerator, and basic coffee machine. Tea drinkers should note, electric tea kettles are not available.

The bathroom featured a large vanity with single sink and shower/bath combination.

From arranging a cab and answering questions about the neighborhood, to getting my lost and then luckily found luggage to my room, every interaction I had with the property’s staff was positive.
