Road trips are fun. We recently traveled from Oregon to Colorado and selected affordable hotels for all stops. Best Western Foothills Inn was our destination for our first night. The Mountain Home, Idaho hotel was conveniently situated off I-84 and near Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Here’s the inside scoop on our one-night stay.
Best Western Foothills Inn is a 77-room, 2-story hotel with elevator. We liked the location of our king room on the second floor. It offered us a clear vantage point to our truck, parked in the well-lit parking lot between the hotel and Wingers Restaurant. Road warriors know that brightly lighted parking lots deter vehicle theft.
Welcoming staff at Mountain Home, Idaho hotel
Upon entrance to the 2-star Best Western hotel, the staff behind the reception desk were friendly and welcoming. I always appreciate that Best Western hotels offer toothpaste and other amenities in case you forget to pack something as vital as a toothbrush or deodorant. In many cases Best Western hotels have dog biscuits in glass jars on the reception desk of dog-friendly hotels.
Our room, #215, was an executive king room. Fortunately, this room was much larger than some of the other Best Western standard king hotel rooms we’ve experienced. We were happy for the upgrade to a more spacious room thanks to our Best Western rewards status.
Like most BW hotels, our room included a mini fridge, microwave oven, flat screen television and spacious bathroom. I’ve mentioned previously that not all Best Western hotels have moved away from small plastic, disposable shampoo and conditioner single-use-bottles. My understanding is that these independently-owned hotels are working towards a more environmentally-friendly bath amenity solution.
Where to eat at Best Western Foothills Inn
I confess that sometimes, Best Western breakfast food is not the best. I’ve mentioned that European Best Western hotels are head and shoulders above the food quality in the United States. Our dining experience at Best Western Foothills Inn was better because the Mountain Home, Idaho hotel partnered with neighbor Winger’s Roadhouse Grill.
Guests of Best Western Foothills Inn were given a coupon good for numerous items on the breakfast menu. In addition to scrambled eggs, bacon and toast or English muffin, hotel guests could upgrade to other menu items, for an additional fee. Arabica coffee and fruit juice was also included with the breakfast coupon.

Amenities included an outdoor swimming pool and indoor jacuzzi hot tub. Additionally, the fitness room offered a tread mill and stationary bike. For road trippers and extended stay guests there was a coin operated laundry room on property.
Pets were allowed in dog-friendly rooms, for an additional fee.
Both king rooms and rooms with 2 queen beds were available in Mountain Home, Idaho. Pre-paid, nonrefundable king rooms for Best Western reward members start at $179.10 a night, excluding tax.
