We love visiting Jackson Hole, Wyoming. However, we don’t like paying the high prices that sometimes accompany downtown Jackson, Wyoming hotels. Luckily we found the Ranch Inn, a downtown Jackson, Wyoming motel that is both family and pet-friendly.
While the 2-star downtown Jackson, Wyoming motel is not the Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole, it does offer deluxe guest rooms with balconies and studio suites. The 57-room downtown Jackson motel is divided into two buildings. We stayed in the original wing, built in the 1940’s. Our two-story building did not have an elevator. However, the newer building does offer an elevator with both adjoining and ADA-accessible rooms with an accessible elevator.
The wood floor lobby featured a brown leather sofa and two wing-back brown leather chairs for visiting. The requisite cowhide was on the floor with a heavy red chest serving as a coffee table. This is where you’ll find hot coffee and tea in the morning. The Snake River Roasting Company coffee, served in the lobby, is much better than the instant coffee offered in the motel rooms.

Guest rooms and suites in downtown Jackson
We stayed in room #203, a king suite with fireplace, a queen sofa bed and kitchenette. Ours was a two-night stay in downtown Jackson Hole. The upgrade to a king suite was worth the extra money as we dined out at lunch and enjoyed a simple dinner in our room. The kitchenette held plates, silverware, glasses and mugs, as well as a mini fridge, sink and microwave oven.
We enjoyed the layout of the studio suite in that the sofa bed was beyond the kitchen and opposite from the wood-burning fireplace. The fireplace held a fire starter and compressed wood log. The fire didn’t put out a lot of heat, but it provided the ambience for a romantic Jackson Hole escape.
Our room looked out to downtown Jackson and was only one block from Jackson Town Square. While breakfast was not included in the price of our stay, there were plenty of places to eat in downtown Jackson, Wyoming. Across the street from The Ranch Inn is a very upscale grocery store with everything you need for a gourmet picnic, snacks or grab and go food from the deli.
We were recommended to dine at The Silver Dollar Grill in the historic Wort Hotel or Local Restaurant & Bar in Jackson Hole. However, we find ourselves returning to Persephone Bakery for their breakfast sandwich, quiche and fabulous brownies. All of these places are within walking distance to The Ranch Inn, as well as the famous elk arch, shops and galleries.
Room rates and amenities
Rooms rates at The Ranch Inn, downtown Jackson motel, start at $87.20 off season to as high as $490 per night in peak season. Pets are welcome in dog-friendly rooms for an additional fee ($25+ tax on our visit.) This fee includes a pet basket and there are dog treats at the front desk.
There is free parking at Ranch Inn, as well as free wireless internet. Children 17 and under stay free at the motel. Additionally, there is a coin operated laundry facility on site. If you are visiting Jackson Hole during ski season, Ranch Inn offers a complimentary round-trip Teton Village ski shuttle.
Last, but not least, you’ll want to visit Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park during your time in Jackson, Wyoming. Both parks are open year-round, weather permitting. We visited in October, during shoulder season. No crowds, better prices, and we even saw a moose.
