Best Western Plus Bend North in Central Oregon

Winter, spring, summer, or fall, there is no slow season in Bend, Oregon these days. The high desert, mountain town is busy any time of year when it comes to outdoor recreational fun.

We were attending the Overland Expo Pacific Northwest in late June and were lucky to find a room at Best Western Plus Bend North in Central Oregon. Close to Redmond, Oregon, the Bend North 2-star hotel is more about function than fancy when it comes to hotel rooms.

There is plenty of complimentary parking at this budget-friendly hotel off Highway 97. If you are looking for a hotel in downtown Bend, Oregon, sister property, Bend Peppertree, is also an option. The Bend North Best Western is six miles from the Old Mill District, 11 miles from the family-friendly High Desert Museum, and 25 miles from Mt. Bachelor Resort.

Our two-night stay at this 99-room Best Western hotel was what you’d expect in the summer season. There were kids in the pool, as well as holiday travelers passing through on their way to other destinations. The hotel lobby featured a river rock fireplace and stairs leading to the 2nd floor of the three-story property.

I’ve mentioned previously that I have diamond status at Best Western Hotels. If rooms are available, I receive a complimentary room upgrade and a couple of bottles of water upon arrival. On this June stay, the hotel was completely sold out. We had booked a double queen room with mountain views as that was the most affordable room at the time of our booking.

Our room, #309, was clean and comfortable. It offered views of Broken Top, 2 of the Three Sisters, and Mount Washington. The central Oregon views are always pleasing to the eye. Additionally, the double queen hotel room offered a mini fridge, a small microwave oven, and an open closet with an ironing board. There was an individual air-conditioning unit in the room, as well as a window that partially opened.

The bathroom included one sink and a tub-shower combination. Small individual bottles of Pharmacopia toiletries were on the bathroom counter, as well as makeup remover packets, skin lotion, and a hair dryer. Between the bathroom and the bedroom was a small area with an in-room coffee maker, as well as paper and plastic cups.

Best Western Plus hotel amenities

Some of the Best Western Plus hotel amenities included an indoor swimming pool with a separate hot tub. Additionally, there was a small fitness room that was accessible to guests 24/7. For the travelers who need access to laundry facilities, there was a washer and dryer on the property.

While the hotel is not pet-friendly, there was a nice, fenced patio area behind the swimming pool. There were a half dozen wooden patio tables with chairs in the area, in addition to a gas fire pit.

Best Western complimentary breakfast

As I’ve mentioned before in other Best Western hotel reviews, the European BW Hotels typically excel when it comes to buffet breakfast offerings. For some reason, our US-based hotels tend to be lacking when it comes to breakfast options. BW Bend North offered several hot breakfast options, including cheese omelets, bacon, and potatoes. I opted for the Greek yogurt and a toasted English muffin. There was also hot coffee and orange juice on offer.

Room rates at the Central Oregon hotel ranged from $149 – $450, depending on the season. High-end rooms include a king suite deluxe. Kids 17 and under stay free with a paying adult. This hotel offers an elevator, as well as complimentary WiFi and a small snack bar in the lobby.
