Hilton Garden Inn Olde Town Arvada Colorado

My grandkids love staycations, and when invited to overnight at the family-friendly and cozy Hilton Garden Inn Olde Town Arvada Denver, just 10 minutes from our home, we jumped at the chance. Combine that with exploring Olde Town Arvada and experiencing its small-town charm, you get the perfect weekend. Read on for more reasons why we enjoyed this Colorado hotel.

Denver offers dozens of perfect staycation hotels within its downtown and outside Mile High’s city limits. These suburbia hotels are ideal for those who like exploring neighborhoods outside of downtown. One such Colorado hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn Olde Town Arvada (although I may be biased as this is my hometown).

Located in the heart of Arvada, northwest of downtown Denver, this Hilton Garden Inn is conveniently located with easy access via the Light Rail System with easy access to the airport Colorado Convention Center, Downtown Denver, and more. It’s also one block from its Olde Town District where its small-town feel is accented with a pedestrian-only Main Street lined with restaurants, breweries, bars, galleries, and boutique shops.

What better setting than this lounge area outside the Hilton Garden Inn Arvada?

No complaints about the mere 10-minute commune from my home to the hotel. I met up with the grandkids (and their parents) in Olde Town, and we made our way to the hotel.

Free parking and plenty of it is always welcome, and just off the lobby area, outdoor lounge furniture proved an open invitation for guests to enjoy the cool Colorado evenings. We made plans to enjoy that area later that evening.

The cozy and welcoming vibe continued through the lobby’s expansive seating area, and families milled around inside, visiting and enjoying the air conditioning on a hot July afternoon. The lounge and restaurant were located just off the lobby, while the reception desk was to the north. Warm dark woodsy colors embraced the colors of the Rocky Mountains.

Accommodations

hilton-garden-inn-arvada-room

Hilton Garden Inn Arvada features comfortable, clean, and family-friendly rooms.

The Hilton Garden Inn brand never disappoints, and one thing guests can depend upon is their beds are SO comfortable (Suite Dreams by Serta)! With two queen beds, guestrooms can sometimes feel crowded, but our room offered plenty of space even for my sometimes squirmy 6- and 9-year-old grandkids.

Our east-facing window view was of the nearby movie theater and a glimpse of Olde Town Arvada to the north. Room upgrades will offer extra space plus views of the Rocky Mountains.

Other Amenities

The hotel features a fitness center, but no surprise that the grandkids’ most anticipated amenity was swimming in the indoor saline pool. We lucked out as we had the pool to ourselves for well over an hour, before heading out to explore Olde Town Arvada.

Dining at the Hilton Garden Inn Arvada

You’ll find plenty of restaurant options in Olde Town Arvada, which is a short walk away, but it was a weekend night. The restaurants were packed, so we window-shopped and then returned to the hotel to enjoy the pool.  (This time, we shared it with another family.)

We opted to skip the crowds and settled in at the on-site restaurant, The Garden Grille and Bar. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the kids chowed on the classics—chicken tenders—while I enjoyed a glass of wine. The Garden Grille and Bar also serves a freshly prepared breakfast.

Another option is The Shop offers a variety of beverages, snacks, and ready-to-cook meals for the in-room microwave oven or refrigerator.

Worthy of note is that the restaurant is within a short walk from the hub of activity in Olde Town, so there is rarely a line, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The hotel also offers multiple specials, such as happy hour from 4-6 PM, and Tuesdays, $14 for its endless taco bar. (Specials subject to change)
