Who doesn’t love Sisters, Oregon? With its small western town charm, it’s like a little sister to Bend in Central Oregon. Known as a year-round recreational wonderland, the city of Sisters offers lodging for all budgets. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at The Scout Cottages in downtown Sisters, Oregon. 

You could call The Scout Cottages a contemporary inn or boutique hotel, but really these 6 boutique cottages are just plain cute. With 4 classic king cottages, 1 classic king ADA and 1 king suite the property is tucked away from busy Cascade Avenue. Each cottage is thoughtfully designed with comfy king beds, a gas fireplace, sitting area, flatscreen tv, microwave oven and small mini fridge, in addition to in-room Keurig coffee and tea service. 

The Scout Cottages in Sisters, Oregon 

I love the efficient layout of The Scout Cottage and wish my home bathroom included sliding barn doors, a double sink vanity, and heated bathroom floors. The walk-in shower with white subway tiles is clean and spacious. Heartland Lettering bath amenities are in the bathroom and shower, as is a small bar of handmade soap from Sisters Bee Soap Company. 

We visited in early October and were able to sneak in one last trip to the Sisters Farmers Market, steps away from The Scout Cottages. Breakfast is not included with your stay. However, downtown Sisters does not lack restaurants, a bakery, chocolate, or coffee shops. 

Central Oregon activities in Deschutes County

As mentioned in my Bend boutique hotel review, this part of Central Oregon in Deschutes County is heaven for outdoor enthusiasts. Skiers will appreciate The Scout Cottages’ close proximity to both Hoodoo Ski Area and Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort. Spring, summer and fall visitors will have plenty of high mountain lakes to visit, including Scout Lake, Suttle Lake and the nearby Metolius River. 

For those wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle, simply relax by the outdoor fire pit or lounge with a book inside the communal hotel lobby. Hop on a cruiser bike and pedal the Sisters neighborhood. 

While there is not a restaurant on the property, guests are able to purchase wine, beer, sparkling water, and snacks or pre-purchase something to have in the room on arrival. There is a leather-bound binder in each cottage with the owners favorite restaurants, shops and activity recommendations. FYI, we loved The Cottonwood Cafe.

The place is called The Scout for a reason; they know the area well and are pleased to create a special itinerary for your mountain escape in Central Oregon. 

The hotel is not pet-friendly but does allow service dogs and emotional support dogs. You should also note that the cottages are not necessarily designed for young children. It’s an ideal place for a romantic couples getaway. Street parking is free, as is WiFi. 

Room rates at The Scout Cottages range from $177 off-season on a weekday to as high as $457 during an in-season event weekend. Popular weekends are certainly the Sisters Rodeo, the Sisters Quilt Show, and the Sisters Folk Festival. Check the Scout website for Ski and stay packages, various retreats, or to book the entire property.
