Visit the Estate Cave at Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa Valley

Built on an eleven-acre private vineyard, The Meritage Resort and Spa is located in the southern tip of the Napa Valley, offering easy access to both Napa and Sonoma wine country. From the complimentary bottle of wine at check in,  on-site Siena restaurant, Trinitas Cellars tasting in the Estate Wine Bar, Tuscan-inspired guest rooms, suites and cave spa, The Meritage exudes elegance. And with the recent $40 million expansion and the addition of 165 guest rooms and suites you’re bound to find a room with a view to your liking.

Superior King Patio Room

Meritage Resort & Spa Superior King Room #4111

Once I was able to locate my room, #4111, a superior king with patio, I settled in to enjoy the view.  This room rented for $449 during my visit, and was part of the expansion program, so the landscaping beyond the patio was still under development. However, I always enjoy seeing the Grape Crusher statue from a distance.

The room was beautifully decorated with a Tuscan theme and color scheme. The king bed offered a comfortable night’s sleep after a busy day filled with wine tasting, a visit to the Oxbow Public Market and walk along the Napa River.

What’s New at Meritage Resort & Spa

Crush Ultra Lounge is the sports-themed entertainment center with six bowling lanes, a pool table and shuffle board, in addition to dining and a fireplace. I didn’t get a chance to try out the bowling alley, but the group in the lounge looked to be enjoying themselves. Blend, the cafe and bistro offers gourmet coffees and light breakfast and lunch items.

Siena Restaurant

Executive Chef Michael Collins presents a menu of wine country cuisine with Tuscan accent at The Meritage Resort’s Siena Restaurant. The menu is sourced locally with dishes blending  Italian and Californian influences.

Spa Terra

Buried nel cuore della terra, “in the heart of the earth,” Spa Terra is a one-of-a-kind experience. Located entirely underground in the eastern wing of the resort’s 22,000 square foot estate wine cave, the Spa offers massage treatments such as Solo Vino with an exfoliating grape seed scrub, followed by a jet shower rinse and a body wrap with a wine cave mud mask. A Terra massage and a glass of wine paired with a cheese selection complete the experience.  For the complete spa menu, including current pricing, check the website.
