With the sun finally peeking through the clouds in Massachusetts after a long, snowy winter, travelers are starting to plan their summer vacations. Cape Cod and the Islands of Massachusetts (Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket) are very popular summer vacation spots with plenty of different lodging options available – from beach-front hotels to quaint B&Bs to vacation homes. Here are five of the best places to stay on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard – book early, because these places fill up in the summer.

Martha’s Vineyard

Harbor View Hotel – When I vacation on the Vineyard, I prefer staying in Edgartown, which is filled with fabulous shops and restaurants. Located in Edgartown within walking distance of downtown, the Harbor View Hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels in Massachusetts. The Harbor View offers gorgeous views, beachfront access, and an outdoor pool. Book online through Hotels.com.

Nantucket

The White Elephant Residences

White Elephant Hotel – The White Elephant Hotel and their sister resort, the White Elephant Residences, are both family-friendly luxury resorts located right downtown. With excellent service and luxurious amenities, it’s a great spot for both romantic and family vacations. Bring along a car or book a cab to access the best beaches, which are on the opposite side of the island. Check rates at Hotels.com.

Harborview Nantucket – For more spacious accommodations, consider one of the vacation rental properties at Harborview Place, which is also located right downtown. All vacation homes offer full kitchens and multiple bedrooms, so every family member can get their own space. Bring your own groceries, or the island’s popular Grand Union Supermarket is a block away.

Cape Cod

Sea Crest Beach HotelLocated in Falmouth, the Sea Crest Beach Hotel offers an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and beachfront access. Rooms are fairly standard, although you can splurge for a room with a view or a fireplace suite. The real draw here, however, is the beach, where attendants set up beach chairs and umbrellas on demand. You can easily spend the whole day at the beach, with the onsite restaurant serving drinks and food ocean-side. Again, compare rates at Hotels.com.

Ocean Edge Resort – The recently renovated Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, MA offers lots of family-friendly activities, including tennis, kids’ clubs, and biking, along with beach-front access (for mansion guests). Standard rooms as well as luxurious suites are available. Book online through Hotels.com.
