Desert Retreat at Four Seasons Rancho Resort Encantado Santa Fe

Four Seasons Santa Fe

One of the ideal ways to see Santa Fe’s high-mountain desert landscape is getting outside and making yourself part of it. But you can still enjoy the views when you’re relaxing at the Four Seasons Rancho Resort Encantado Santa Fe. Only a 10-minute drive from downtown Santa Fe, the resort is a quiet retreat among the grand desert skies.

Four Seasons Santa Fe roomEach of the 65 casita guest rooms and suites has a fireplace and private terrace. The spacious rooms include down pillows and duvets, plush bathrobes, a tea/coffee maker, an iPod docking station, flat-screen TV, and twice-daily housekeeping. Basic Internet access is complimentary, however if you’re planning on streaming movies on your laptop, the high-speed access is $12 per day. Rates start at $550 (Sunday-Thursday) and $600 (Friday-Saturday) and vary, depending on type of room and time of year.

At the spa, choose from a variety of regionally inspired bodywork, Ayurvedic rituals, traditional Eastern medicine, or other services—including massage and facials. If you’re looking for a good way to get a well-rounded Santa Fe experience, pick the 80-minute Blue Corn and Honey Renewal, which helps when your skin gets a little stressed out by the dry air of the desert. Couples can escape for a few hours and get a series of treatments incorporating different types of massage, soaks and masks.

Four Seasons Santa Fe diningTerra, the resort’s on-site restaurant, uses fresh local produce (some from the restaurant’s own garden) to showcase the local New Mexico culinary style. Sit indoors in restaurant or the casual-yet-stylish bar, or head outside to choose a table on the terrace to enjoy the fresh air. If you want to get close to the action, get a reservation at the chef’s table. In winter, you’ll be in the middle of the kitchen, but in summer, you may be out in the restaurant garden watching the stars appear as night falls.

The best way to see what’s beyond the beautiful property is to sign up for one of the outings offered through the dedicated onsite adventure center. Adventures include everything from mountain biking in the picturesque Sangre de Cristo mountains adjacent to the property and hiking in famed Georgia O’Keeffe country to fly fishing, snow shoeing and day trips to Taos and beyond.
