After a day of traveling in Gers, we were tired and ready to drop our bags and refresh at a hotel in the town of Condom, France. Whether you are leaving for a cruise down Baise river or sight-seeing in Condom, Hotel Continental offers a central location with a restaurant and garden on property. The three star hotel offers clean and affordable lodging in a safe, well lit location. Stroll into town, where the word Condom carries a different meaning than the English translation. Condom is the meeting of the markets, as well as the place to take your picture with the life-sized statue of Dartanian and the three Musketeers.
Air-conditioned rooms with free wifi
Hotel Continental offers two handicapped accessible rooms and a suite, in addition to 22 clean and affordable hotel rooms across from the river Baise. My room, was located on the first floor and offered two single beds that were joined together with queen bed linens. A day bed was across the room, so this room, #8, could be used for a family or three singles traveling together.
The room offered a bath/shower combination and hair dryer, as well as two desks. The queen bed had two small night stands on either side to charge your electronics or serve as a place to hold your travel guide books. As is to be excepted, the hotel room had a telephone and television. What was not expected, yet very much appreciated; complimentary in-room, inter-net access.
Secret garden
It wasn’t until the next morning that I discovered Hotel Continental’s garden. The hotel also features an 80 seat restaurant, Les Jardins de la Baïse, inside the hotel.
I didn’t eat dinner at the restaurant, but enjoyed breakfast for an additional eight euros added to the price of my 70 euro room. Check the website for the latest prices and packages offered.
