When flying to international destinations, it seems that many airlines get you there late in the day or you discover that you leave early in the morning for your flights back home. That is why proximity to the international airport is key to reducing anxiety over missed planes due to traffic congestion and early and late hours.
Courtyard San Jose Airport checks all the boxes.
The Location
Not only is the Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela convenient to the Juan Santamaria International Airport, it is also close to nearby attractions such as Mango Plaza, City Mall, and Plaza Real Alajuela. For those who prefer walking, a nearby Walmart can help you find all those last minute items you need or forgot. Only a 5 minute walk.
The Hotel
With 127 air-conditioned guestrooms, the hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms designed to maximize your comfort during your hotel stay.
It’s nice to know that they offer a free airport shuttle to and from Juan Santamaria International Airport to the hotel. Other essential travel amenities for business people and frequent travelers include high-speed Wi-Fi in all rooms, large workstations and a 24-hour business center.
Be sure to try the complimentary breakfast buffet at Centro. Lots of fresh fruits, baked breads, and eggs to order. During lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers international fare and cocktails. I chose the fresh watermelon juice (non-alcoholic). It was both refreshing and delightful.
Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center and outdoor pool.
The Room
The room is spacious and comfortable, with a large shower and working desk with flat-screen tv. Complimentary in-room bottled water is provided daily.

The Bottom Line
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela offers the ultimate in airport proximity and convenience with a professional and courteous staff to attend to your business and travel needs.
Rooms are well-designed with comfort in mind, as well as providing ample space for your in-room computer needs. However, be aware that the Wifi can be iffy. I experienced several intermittent problems with connectivity and finally reported them to the front desk, only to hear that others were experiencing issues as well.
The hotel has a great restaurant with a substantial buffet breakfast that has a wide assortment of breakfast items, including many of the fresh fruits of Costa Rica.
A complimentary airport shuttle is available for guests. If driving, be assured that there is complimentary on-site parking.
This is a smoke-free property, with no pets allowed unless they are service animals.
