If you’re looking for ski-in/ski-out luxe on your Park City winter vacation, pack your bags for the Montage Deer Valley, a plush mountain resort you’ll have a hard time leaving. With top-quality service, grand spaces and furnishings, and all the little details covered—it’s easy to feel at home from the moment you walk in the front door.
Arrive at night to see the driveway lined with brightly lit trees, or roll in during the daytime, when you see the hotel tucked into the snow-dusted mountains. It’s nice to see a hotel of its size not overwhelm its surroundings. Instead, it seems perfectly placed, and settled nicely into Deer Valley.
The 128 spacious guest rooms and 46 suites have mountain or valley views (most rooms have a private balcony or patio), sitting area with fireplace, 42-inch LCD TVs with DVD/CD players, marble bathrooms with heated floors, soaking tub, separate shower with rain showerhead, walk-in closets with safes, comfortable robes and slippers. Guest rooms average 600 square feet and suites range from 1,000 to 3,200 square feet. Winter rates start at $845 per night, and summer rates start at $345 per night.
One of my favorite places in the Montage is the Vista Lounge and Terrace, a mountain-style great room that has the air of a majestic gentleman’s club. Curl up in a comfortable chair next to the fireplace and order a tasty handcrafted cocktail from the bar while you enjoy the views of the mountains. Get a breath of fresh air out on the fire-warmed terrace and roast your own S’mores from the hotel’s special provisions (my faves involved peppermint marshmallows) or participate in a wine tasting.
When it’s time for skiing, head downstairs to Compass Sports for gear rentals, storage and servicing; lift tickets; and shopping for any clothing items you may have forgotten at home. Then, step outside, and you’re on the mountain—ready to go.
Whether it’s the plush and spacious rooms, wine tasting on the fire-warmed terrace, the many ways you can pamper yourself at the spa, or the ability to ski in and ski out—it’s certainly a sweet retreat. When I return, you’ll find me in the Vista Lounge.

I was a guest of the Park City Convention & Visitors Bureau during my stay.
I saw that exact view at the top as I was skiing down the mountain at Deer Valley. Then checked it out from the chairlift. Must have been nice to be inside!
