Deck the Halls: Hotels Celebrate the Season

When you’re feeling festive during your winter travels, adding a hotel with holiday spirit makes your vacation that much sweeter.  From San Diego to Texas, these hotels deck their halls — or grounds — and celebrate the season, creating a perfect holiday tradition for you and yours.

Ice skating and a magical seaside getaway? Yes, you can at San Diego‘s Hotel Del Ice Rink at the historic Hotel del Coronado.   In its 9th year, the oceanfront lawn is transformed into an ice rink from Thanksgiving to early January every year.

The historic halls and grounds of The Broadmoor come alive during the holidays. Every year, the hotel’s culinary students construct a Gingerbread Village, located on mezzanine level of Broadmoor Main. The hotel also presents “A Classic Broadmoor Christmas,” a traditional holiday show for the entire family. The grounds are sparkling with more than 250,000 strands of lights, illuminating the holiday wonderland.  Located just 90 minutes south of Denver in Colorado Springs, The Broadmoor is a holiday memory waiting to happen.

When you are a hotel located in Grapevine, Texas, the “Christmas capital of the World,” your holiday celebration has to be spectacular.  The Gaylord Texan Resort does just that with a family-friendly, wintry chill in the air during its Lone Star Christmas celebration. During your holiday getaway, you’ll get a Texas-sized eyeful of 1.5 million twinkling lights, 12,000 ornaments, a supersize 54-foot-tall rotating Christmas tree, and then there’s the chilling ICE! featuring ice sculptures and slides, all themed to Dream Works characters.

Step out the front door of the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, and be immersed in the Puerto Rican culture during the holidays. Located in the Condado neighborhood, this property offers prime location for most festivities. You’ll have many dates to choose from as their holiday celebrations begins as early as November and continues through mid-January. The season’s grand finale of the season is El Día de los Tres Reyes Magos, or “Three Kings Day,” with a large celebration in San Juan when children visit the La Fortaleza, the governor’s mansion, to receive free gifts.
