Looking for a gourmet stay in Oregon? The Edwin K Bed & Breakfast is the ideal place for a romantic escape to the Central Oregon coast. The 1914 Craftsman bed and breakfast is conveniently located in Old Town Florence and offers a boutique hotel experience.
The Craftsman-style house was originally situated next to the Siuslaw River Bridge. It was moved to its current Bay Street location in 1970. It became a bed and breakfast in 1992. New owners Sarah and John Raleigh serve as innkeepers and have created a boutique bed & breakfast like nothing else in Florence.
My husband and I were looking for a romantic destination on the central Oregon coast. We hit the jackpot when we landed at the Edwin K Bed & Breakfast. The owners offered a gourmet stay in their immaculate Oregon home. While the downtown location was ideal, steps to Old Town Florence, it was the multi-course breakfast that would bring us back to this part of the Oregon coast.
Gourmet stay in Oregon
After several years of grab and go breakfasts at hotels, it was refreshing to sit down at a beautiful, long wood table and be served by the B&B owners. Attention to detail is the name of the game for owner Sarah Raleigh. Guests of the inn are asked to fill out a breakfast menu the night prior so that your morning meal is prepared just the way you like it.
Gluten-free, no problem. Prefer a Dutch baby, a huge buttery popover-like pancake, to buttermilk biscuits & gravy served with fried eggs and bacon? No problem. This is in addition to orange juice and mimosa, French press coffee with homemade Baileys, a savory starter and fruit. Don’t forget the sweet treat to round out the gourmet breakfast. We were so full that we really didn’t need dinner that evening – but we dined out anyway.
With over 15 restaurants in Old Town Florence, in addition to art galleries and book stores, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy on your coastal holiday. Hike the sand dunes, take in the water view from the front porch, go for a hike in the forest or go horseback riding on the beach, 15 minutes north of Florence.
Rooms at the boutique bed & breakfast
There are 4 unique rooms to select from. All B&B rooms include ensuite bathrooms with plush robes and white cotton towels. Two rooms include outdoor balconies, while the other guest rooms offer views of the sand dunes – literally across the street.
I’m not going to tell you about the welcome gift on your bed, as that would be like opening presents before your birthday. Instead, know that many surprises await your gourmet stay on the Oregon coast. That’s right, I’m not going to tell you what’s inside the mini-fridge; there’s something savory and something sweet. This, in addition to libations a plenty.
All rooms offer queen beds with plenty of pillows, in addition to armoire, desk, chairs and a mini fridge. Both the mini fridge and the coffee and tea station offer lots of choice to eat and drink. Sit down, relax and enjoy your room.
The rooms are all located on the second floor of the bed & breakfast and there is no elevator. If stairs are an issue, you may want to reconsider. Do note that innkeeper/owner John Raleigh help you with your luggage, so don’t let that be a deterrent.
